A standard start that would create its own standard, the original GEL-LYTE was the basic model of a series of colour blocks and reflective inserts on the forefoot for improved visibility. Released originally in 1987, this model returns thirty years later. The addition of the name "lyte" to the model name was due to the fact that it weighed less than a pound. The exceptional lightness of the shoe was further highlighted by the GEL unit in the heel, the nyla-sheen synthetic fabric and the duraskin reinforcement. The shoe was equipped with an anti-rotation stability system for motion control, while the triple density midsole and the blown rubber sole with rubber heel gusset completed this creation for mid-high miles.
