Hey this is quite good. Deff looks like it’s going somewhere. Might fill in some of the space to get left. Absolutely love the gold.

hi! so, this is a portrait of an artist and friend of mine whose name is Leah Gardner (look up her work, it’s brilliant) - the title of the painting is a pun based off her name. i have a masters degree in english (and possess spellcheck) so am aware of the spelling. hope this clarifies!

Love the composition! I see that you only paint women portraits. Do you know them? Are you using references and make them up? How does this process work? :-)

Thank you!! I would say that 99% of the people I paint are women (I do paint men occasionally, but not often!). Most of the people I paint are real people I know (such as with this painting), others are submitted to me (I occasionally do open calls for face references) and the remaining come from artist reference sources like caneyo. I do often change faces a little during painting with whatever feels right compositionally in the moment so it’s a mix of made up and from reference. The backgrounds and settings are 100% from my own brain and are usually made up on the spot; I’m not a big planner, I really enjoy spontaneity in my work, it makes it more fun for me and makes the work feel more alive I think. Hope this helps! :)

Absolutely stunning. I don't make connections to art often, but this one so connects with me. I would love to put this in my house.

This is extremely beautiful. I think my personal taste would want the left forearm or some small part of the lower body to be breaking through the abstraction. I feel that the composition would be improved if there was something else to draw and engage the eye in the bottom of the painting. I mention this because the spirit of this sub is constructive criticism, but I really do love this piece it is absolutely gorgeous and technically well-executed.

Thank you so much!! The original has gone but I have pr1nts (spelling this way to avoid breaking the sub rules!) available - some embellished with gold leaf so they’re v similar to the original - that look lovely up on the wall :)
