Really solid composition, clean look, flat contrasting shades to create a strong geometric 3d space, and with a cat. Love this one.

I was about to scream impostor until I saw you’re just reposting the same work. I had this as my screensaver for the longest time. All your work is so fresh and smooth, easy on the eyes, and comforting. Nice to see it again! Good stuff

LaughThink t1_ixdh8dt wrote

Same. This has been my phone background since November 21, 2021. Maybe at least don't change the year of the piece when reposting?

10

Chemical_Poet1745 t1_ixdknr0 wrote

I think the older one was digital — this one is acrylic. So the change of year makes sense, I suppose.

13

dugsaresound OP t1_ixdmkd0 wrote

You’re completely right, I posted the digital one as I was never happy with the acrylic version, however I finally got it looking right a couple of months ago, so here it is again!

15

LaughThink t1_ixe55r1 wrote

Gotcha! No plans on changing the background anytime soon!

2

HaikuBotStalksMe t1_ixfk42d wrote

Keep in mind that you should have at least two pictures (changing between the two) as your screensaver, otherwise it defeats the purpose.

1

forwardAvdax t1_ixgfxj5 wrote

Pardon? I don’t understand. You mean different ones for Lock Screen & Home Screen?

1

HaikuBotStalksMe t1_ixgiv4o wrote

Nah, the screensaver in general. It can't prevent burnout if it's a static image.

Very clean and neat. What was your inspiration for it? Reminds me of the housing style on Greek islands.

9

dugsaresound OP t1_ixdmumb wrote

Thank you, the inspiration was originally based on some postwar prefab houses I seen in the uk, I based it on that and then changed a lot so that I liked the composition. it’s nearly unrecognisable though from the original inspo.

endomentalartistry t1_ixcqsem wrote

I like that you create so much depth with such minimalism.

Great use of negative space, excellent composition.

Found my new phone wallpaper!

Round_Rock_Johnson t1_ixdlhpw wrote

Obsessed with the almost indiscernible slivers of visible canvas between different patches of color. Everything about this painting, from the composition to way you applied the paint creates this really stark simplicity.

Oh my god equally obsessed with what someone else said: “so fresh, like a distilled memory!”

YES

5

dugsaresound OP t1_ixdn37v wrote

Thank you for taking the time to write! It’s a nervy process leaving the canvas blank for the white parts because if I want to go back and cover any mistakes the added white paint almost never looks the same!

2

python111 t1_ixe43ia wrote

The cat is the best touch here, gives realism cause you know cats must at least once go through every corner of every house, building, tree, hole etc....

I remember this post! There was a ton of nonsense arguing about the light source and direction of shadows lol!

Looks incredible on canvas, what an accomplishment making the flat feel of the digital work come through! Really cool.

That is lush - how do you get such a flat colour and texture with acrylic?

1

dugsaresound OP t1_ixduoeu wrote

Thank you, honestly most of the work is done by using all matte acrylic paints and flat edged brushes. Then just going back and forward with them a couple of times until they’re flat. There’s a few videos on the social link in my bio. Sorry I can’t put them here as they’re deleted on this sub!
