I love them - the worm is my favorite. Looking at them youā€™ve put so much personality into them, I was practically waiting for them to start moving and speaking. Would be really cool animated characters.

The bear looks like it could be a character played by David Harbour and it would make sense. And the green (thing?) is that Mojo Jojo? These are really cool!

Super cool designs, love the mushroom one especially. I could swear I've seen that bird guy somewhere else before - it's something about the face, seems so familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it

Really liking the style and creativity here. Loving the bird having that extra jagged beak.

So is it a base colour with the pens and then pencils on top for shading, depth and additional detail?

I've always wondered; is there a trick for blending colours so well without also ruining the markers?

2

Criticalhit_jk t1_j6fbqka wrote

There's several. There's a cool 3D one that doesn't play like a side scroller. Not sure what it's called anymore since worms 3d is just modernized side scrolling like the OG iirc, like just the character models 'look' 3d, without the 1st person environment

Love your drawing style! Keep up the great work! Can you do more like your duct tape inspired drawings?

2

CalumDuff t1_j6g0hpm wrote

Sorry, I think you may have misread my question.

In the past, I've ruined markers when using them to colour drawings. I found that the inks already on the page bleed into the markers and stain them, ruining the original colour.

Do you have any tips for how to make the colours blend so evenly as you managed to with these drawings, but without wrecking your markers?

2

RedArmyHammer t1_j6gc6t8 wrote

That green one on the right DEFINITELY had inspiration from the Jak n Daxter franchise. I've seen that exact piercing on that exact type of ear all over that universe.

2

AnimusCorpus t1_j6giq2c wrote

Worms 3D is definitely full 3D. I own it.

And to be honest with you, I prefer the 2D games. The third axis makes some of the more skilled shots near impossible to make, and so there was always a bigger reliance on hitscan, melee and homing weapons. Which isn't as fun imho.

The latest 2D one has weapon crafting and vehicles, which feel a bit odd, but otherwise it's pretty faithful to Armageddon, the most famous 2D version.

jonnyg1097 t1_j6gizwh wrote

Some of these would make good boss characters in some video games.

FO_Steven t1_j6gwm4c wrote

This art is fantastic! I can easily see a cartoon or comic with this kind of design

2

CalumDuff t1_j6gzw7n wrote

It kills me how simple that is, yet it never occurred to me.

I'm really inexperienced when it comes to art, because I never had the focus to improve until I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 25 years old. There are so many simple tips like that which are probably second nature to artists like yourself that I just feel like I never caught on to because I gave up on even trying to be good at such a young age.

Thanks so much for sharing, I really appreciate it and I'll have to try it myself some time!
