Influencer. Any white chick with an instagram account is an influencer today. The only thing they influence me to do is puke.

Amazing?

If someone thinks something’s amazing, isn’t that their right to feel that way? In a subjective context I think it works. That is why I used the word “genius” as an example because that’s more exclusive and specific a word, but I think amazing has many similar meaning words that it can be interchanged with.

Anyway, nice suggestions anyway.

It's not so much being a sadistic maniac, as much as it is that the bystander effect is absolutely a real thing - until you're actually in a situation it's impossible to know how you'll actually react to it, and a lot of people in high stress situations freeze up unless called on specifically.

It's hard to say how weird it is to feel like you have to take action in a situation because you know that nobody else is reacting.

And regardless of how much it seems like the obvious thing to do, I'd argue that saving a life that would have otherwise died is what a hero is. Saving a drowning person, even a child, isn't without risk, and most people don't really know what to look for with drowning (it's not always the big thrashing obvious mess - you sometimes have to actively notice a person go under and not come back up) to begin with.

It's not just the impulse to do the right thing, it's also having the means and knowledge to take the correct action that makes you a hero in these sorts of situations.

Someone being the goat. The term gets tossed around way too often it seems like. It should be used for rare cases when it is actually deserved. This of course unless you are talking about the animal goat, then it's a whole other thing.

'Triggered'.

It is a real medical term for people with ptsd, going back to Vietnam war veterans. Or WWI, if you include 'shell shock'.

.It does not mean 'slightly uncomfortable'.

I don't think posting trigger warnings is bad at all, and I know trauma is trauma - abuse or war. It's just really overused to the point where noone takes it seriously any more.

If I'm bloggning and someone asks me to tag 'tw:toast' because they have toaster trauma, I would. The GDPR 'we taken your cookies' is way more annoying.

"literal". People use it as an attempt to emphasize.

"My boyfriend literally broke my heart". Ugh. No.

There's a whole world of ways to make something more impactful. A blatantly incorrect use just makes my eyes go crossed.

It’s kind of like the people who watch a bad movie and say it felt like “physical torture” to them or the people who say they would “literally” rather harm themselves very violently like stabbing themselves than do something they find incredibly boring or do something with someone they don’t like or respect. I’m like, no you wouldn’t literally do that, but I get that it’s just an expression.

Patriot. The people who call themselves patriots now hate America more than China and Russia do combined.

But the animals aren’t The goat; more a goat. Goats are are cool and important animals, but the meaning is very different.

I do think, though, that if you call someone the goat, then you probably would lose some dignity if the person you call the goat isn’t at least worthy of being in the discussion of who is the goat.

A lot of goat mentions.😉

This isn't the first time - English as a language likes doing this so much that we have a name for it: the contranym - or the word that is also its own antonym. We're just sarcastic assholes so often that our language does that over time.
