When people use askreddit solely to argue with people because they see things differently. This is askreddit. Not arguereddit

Discriminating against people because of their religious beliefs. Redditors claim to care about eradicating all forms of hate and discrimination but they will go ballistic on you when they find out that you are religious. I got 38 downvotes and was called a ‘Christofascist’ in a DM last week because I casually mentioned in a comment that my Christian faith was important to me. Like, what did I do wrong? Am I not allowed to have personal beliefs?

I absolutely believe making blanket judgments against whole groups of people— any group including religious ones— is contributing to the problem. I’m really sorry that people make assumptions about you over other peoples’ behavior.

I got utterly torn apart over sharing that I was trans, and all I said was that existing felt unsafe, but I do recognize it may have been poor timing with recent events and insensitive on my part to say it then, although the comment I responded to was on how most trans people want to exist and be left alone. People even downvoted my conversation with someone mentioning being multiply-marginalized— I was just happy to see anyone speak up for us at that point. But anyway, if somebody hasn’t directly done something to you, why judge them so harshly? Y’all deserve better too. And I hope the public’s perception of y’all can change.

Just these last few days it's been so easy to find Reddit posts and comments shitting on the victims and their families of the Nashville shooting because they were Christian, and I'm like "How in the hell do you see yourself as the morally superior tolerant one?"

I know. I think that’s one of the differences between America and Europe. I’ve never met any non-religious person in real life that ever thought or cared about Christians. Religion just wasn’t a part of their life. On Reddit, though, almost every non-religious person I meet wants to ban, erase, and eradicate religion entirely. I even saw someone today who claimed that religion is the worst invention ever created by humanity. Atheism is a personality trait on this website. I wish people just cared less about how other people lived their lives.
