I agree, but some people say it is also faith based because we are placing our faith in all the explanations and experiments other people have made without necessarily duplicating findings ourself.

"Faith" is a whack-a-mole kinda term. Its definitions can change completely depending on the sentence its used in, as long as at the end if it you think you've made an argument for your beliefs.
