Dominican Republic beautiful place. A bit biased since I’m from there lol

hahahaha yes I have seen in videos that it is a nice place and what about costs? hotels etc?

1

Leading-Ad8510 t1_j6pek8q wrote

Almost anything is a lot cheaper over there since Dominican pesos have less value than American Dollars. If you bring a couple thousand dollars you’ll be richer than 85% of people there

I understand 🫢 thank you very much I'll keep it in mind and look for information, is it a safe place?

Some places yes or places no if you walk into a nice neighborhood where everything looks new and newer cars everywhere with blacked out windows get out of there cause those people probably deal with dangerous things and don’t go walking around flexing expensive things you are more likely to get robbed pretty quickly. I’ve seen people get robbed right outside the airport. So I recommend to stay in area’s where there are a lot of tourist, stay in a resort, or if you want to explore have a tour guide who has knowledge of areas to go and not to go. But In my experience it’s a generally safe country with very nice people. But again I’m biased since I’m from there and i know everyone in my neighborhood and everyone knows me.

I'm sure it's a place with beautiful and pleasant people 😊 I'll take into account a guide for the visit and do you recommend a specific part?

Punta Caña-amazing resort

Santo Domingo-the capital

El camp- the countryside with amazing views of nature with fruit trees all over the place. Go up to a mango tree and pick as many free, natural, organic tropical mangos and many other fruits

Playa Boca Chica- beautiful white sand and clear water beach

Los Mameyes- my home, my neighborhood everyone is friendly and has amazing street food but sometimes it can be a bit dangerous so keep caution

Emystone- t1_j6pi19k wrote

boca chica is in santo domingo?

1

Leading-Ad8510 t1_j6pj7w3 wrote

Yes it is, and one of the most beautiful beaches in the country and it’s a hotspot for tourists so it’s pretty safe

Iceland. Gorgeous scenery. Blue lagoon. Seeing glaciers up close. Walking (or swimming) down the middle of the tectonic plates. Oh and the northern lights.

Emystone- t1_j6pfdxu wrote

wow i never thought of that sounds amazing

Would second Iceland, just visit in the summer, or close to it on either side. People are friendly, scenery is like nothing you've ever seen, the food is very good, and a fun walkable downtown. CCP might still be giving tours, so if you wanna see an amazing office space over the ocean where EVE Online is made, there it is.

what is the best time to go?

1

[deleted] OP t1_j6pipq0 wrote

Between the end of June and the beginning of July

1

Emystone- t1_j6pizsz wrote

and there are many tourists on those dates?

1

[deleted] OP t1_j6pjme3 wrote

From what I’ve seen, there’s quite a few tourists, but mostly locals. But the beach is massive, stretching multiple kilometers, with the only downside being jellyfish in the morning, and that most parts of the beach are owned by different hotels. On the other side, the is an amazing ice cream shop near one of the hotels, best I’ve ever had. The restaurants are top-tier. And if you time it correctly, you might even be able to catch the boat to Venice.

Though, the last time I was there was in 2018. It might’ve changed a lot since then.
