Cats, I hate dogs. They are dirty, smelly, and require so much work to take care of. They throw up randomly, and pee on the floor. Cats are just so much better. I poty trained my cat day 1, by taking 5 seconds, and showing it the litter box and it was like cool m8. Day 1 for my roomates dog was him pooping on the carpet. My cat is a siberian so I get a LOT of love from him, and hes adorable. Most dogs are also ugly tbh.

Only good thing they do is kill pests. Working cats like barn cats are great. My farmer parents got cats and now they don't need rat poison anymore. And the cats that saved Istanbul from the plague by killing the rats. I guess some cats are friendly and give people joy. But yeah they'll eat your face if you die so don't trust em lol

Have 2 dogs & 1 cat so both. They each have their pros/cons.

I like both. Right now a rugged dog that can run long distances better suits my lifestyle. We go mountain biking, hiking, camping, etc together regularly.

Got one of each.

The dog is a good friend but a bad roommate. The cat is the opposite. In the house, I pick the cat. Outside, I pick the dog.

Bonus story, I took her for what was supposed to be a one hour walk yesterday and ended up being gone for three. Something about a dog makes people want to approach, tell a story, ask questions. It's a very refreshing and enriching way to enjoy an afternoon.

Dogs are pretty hard to top.

My dogs help keep me in shape by joining me on walks. Their snuffling noses bring tranquility to my soul. They also sense when I'm down and snuggle up next to me.

You can roughhouse with a dog. Not so much a cat.

Dogs are very protective of their friends.

My dogs wake me up with kisses and excitement. My sister's cat woke me up by shoving its ass in my face.

Dogs lend their name to a delicious cheap American food. Nobody would eat a hot cat.

cats - they're less maintenance than dogs, they're independent little f'rs more along the lines of roommates than pets, and they live longer if you keep them indoors and keep up w/ their vet visits. Downside? Fur and furballs. Upside, oh those purrs and whenever you are sick they will curl up with you (ok, maybe it's because you have a fever - don't judge)

I cheat a bit, I have a siberian forest cat. This is the same lineage as a maine coon and norwegian forest cat. These cats are way friendlier, bigger, and affectionate than other cats.

My experience with the rewards has been mixed. Yeah dogs can be trained but anything and everything is TONS of work. I bought a $600 litterbox to avoid doing the ONE actual work thing you need to do for a cat, so for anyone who is lazy like me, cat all the way.

The important thing though the smell. They are unclean mangy animals and they stink.

This is all perspective though, I have certain values, and others have certain values. I also <3 dogs that are not mine for this reason.
