Don't be intimidated by those around you. Many are in their own zone or personal bubble to care how slow or lightweight you start out. Focus on yourself, no matter how egotistic that sounds.

Be consistent in how often you do it. The schedule that seems to work best for me is that I work out a bare minimum of every other day. That means if I worked out yesterday, if I want I can take today off. It also means that if I didn't work out yesterday I must work out today

When actually exercising give it a genuine effort and push yourself but don't overdue it at first. If you are starting from scratch I would only do 10 to 20 minutes at a time, 10 minutes is more than enough. But within a few weeks or a few months at most you should be doing 20 minutes to a half hour at a time, longer if you have the time and desire

Start slow, pace yourself and have realistic expectations. Gains are incremental (as are losses.)

I find a roller helps a lot with post-workout soreness. But YMMV.

Consistency is key. Try and make/find a workout plan you enjoy doing and think will get you results. But really they most important thing is going 4-5 times a week. So many people quit because they don’t see progress, but eventually you will see it. You really need to just trust the process, and everything else will fall into place

#1 Just START NOW! Don't procrastinate and stick to it.... you will not regret it.

I am happy to be at a point in my life that if I have to miss a workout I feel soo guilty.

In addition to those saying consistency ... don't skip on learning the proper form of the exercises you are doing.

Also don't forget your warm ups, cool downs and stretches.
