You can have them resoled
The cork is busted. No fixing that. Resoling Birks is only for the tread and usually requires no damage to the footbed.
My first pair of Keens didn't last but a dozen or so uses. Got them replaced under warranty and my new pair has lasted for hundreds of uses. Hit or miss in my case.
My wife has a pair of Chaco's sandals like the ones I've linked that are about 20 years old. Summers here are relatively short but she probably wears them 30-50 days per year. I'd say that's pretty hard to beat.
I'm glad that you got a pair that's lasted and that the old one was taken care of. I'm glad to buy from companies that stand by their products.
Okabashi/OkaB/ThirdOak!
I wear both Olukai and Birkenstock sandals. Olukai has a 1 year warranty for defects.
Piper Sandals, made in Texas. My new favorite summer sandal.
I have been using source sandals for years. Made in Israel, wearing them all summer and spring long. https://sourceoutdoor.com/product/men-gobi-sandals/
There is a trade off. Hard shoes last longer. Softer shoes don’t last as long, but are more comfortable. Neither will last a lifetime.
I adore Reef surf sandals, get the kind with the bottle opener in the bottom. Highly recommend, very sturdy.
I've got a pair of Keen Targhee 2 hikers that have been great. I quite like their designs and they seem to fit me really well too. I'd definitely buy from them again despite my first pair failing.
Don't flame me, but pick up some Crocs.
Support a Colorado business. Namaste.
Woodland. I picked it up on a trip to India. Mine are going strong - year 16 now.
Interesting find. How did you discover this?
Reminds me of LUNA Sandals we have in our running sport.
Not sure if it’s your thing but Dr Martens sandals. I’ve worn my docs everyday for 4 years, no sign of wear!
Teva all the way. One pair lasted 15 years.
No idea, honestly. But they’re great! Highly recommend.
I’m not sure I see the issue in getting three years out of a pair of shoes work 3-4 times a week. No shoe is BIFL and this seems like a reasonable, albeit not excessive life for a sandal (lacking any additional context regarding type of use and wear).
Bedrock Cairns.
Bedrocks
Mephisto!
Plastic foam rubber soles age and crack. Even not being used, just sitting in the box
Chaco quality has gone down a lot since they got bought by wolverine. No longer use vibram soles. I really like my bed rocks, wear them 7 days a week all summer for everything and they last 3 years a pair
Which ones do you have?
My grandmother has a pair of 50-year-old Birks that she's kept because she replaces the soles every few years. The leather uppers have a really cool patina after all this time, maybe that's where the value is? Haven't tried myself.
Yeah it doesn't sound like these birks failed OP, it sounds like they served their purpose very well.
You can send them in for repairs. I think they’ve done pretty well considering.
My fiancé only wears birks and I feel like she needs to replace them every two years or so which is disappointing for their price
I have a pair of TEVAs I’ve had for almost 20 years now, wear them regularly ever summer.
Downside: They will not in any way help you get laid.
You can either waste your shoes or your knees. Take your pick.
Wow they will even make them according to your foot tracing! Looks like I know what I am asking for, for xmas!
I'm a lifelong Birks guy that just made the switch to Merrell sandals with a Vibram sole. Two years in, they don't even look worn.

My keen's have lasted me 2 years without any issues and I don't take good care of them. Plus I got them on clearance at REI.
