I own some sets of headphones of a Chinese company called Bluedio. They are shockingly cheap and incredibly good. I liked my 1st pair so much I bought some others just in case that one will break, but it serves me daily for about 10 years now. I couldn't recommended more. My favorite model is the t7+ which is sold online for about 35 dollar.
My "Bluedio" headphones came with "Faith" printed on the headband and the sound quality was crap. The bose headphones sound so much better and have already lasted twice as long
That's my rationale too. Probably lasted long but sounds no good.
And cost ten times as much :)
Recommending Bose as Bluedio alternative is the same as recommending Mercedes Benz S class as a Kia Picanto alternative.
Eh more like recommending Audi. Bose sounds like shit

These aren't BIFL but I don't think the best sounding headphones are going to be BIFL. ie the Bluedio might last 10 years but doesn't have good sound.
hd6xx are absolutely terrible for the price and shilled so hard for no reason when there is insanely noticeable distortion.
he400se, hifiman edition XS, or if you want the best buy under $50, kph30i which imo sound even better than the hd6xx lmfao.
my sundaras are nice but for the price i wouldn't bother
For context the HD6xx were $199 pre-inflation and pre-COVID and imo that was a great deal for essentially the HD650s. I'll agree that lately the prices aren't as good as before.
I think we have different perception but imo the KPH30i lacked a lot of detail compared to the 6xx.
I have the KPH30i and even made a favorable review about them. Have the Sundaras too :P But they're nowhere near the level of 6xx. (Referring to the KPH30is not the Sundaras) (Sundaras I'd say...sound better in many ways) But my discussion is about the KPH30is
For me, personally, the 6xx will always have a special place in my heart because I use it all the time. Really great sound and also essential for mixing and mastering audio (for me at least). But to rewind it back, basically the original post is talking about how a pair of headphones (sub 30 dollars) are nuclear proof in a BIFL thread. But imo that means nothing if the audio quality isn't good and they aren't. Honestly if he mentioned KPH30is..or KC75s...I wouldn't have disagreed - because they actually do sound fantastic for the money and are technically lifetime warranty. :P But the ones that were chosen, ie Bluedios in the title post aren't good.
AKG quality has plummeted after Samsung acquired their parents company Harman & Kardon. I used to be a big fan of their headphones. Not anymore, I bought a pair a year ago and had to return it after a day because it fell apart.
Instead I can really recommend Beyerdynamic!
Whoa, we're on different sides of the coin. I don't like Beyerdynamic headphones. They're comfortable, yes. Probably the most comfortable out there. But I'm not a fan of the sound. That said I only have experience with the DT770s and DT990s which were the ones recommended to me. I bought them and later donated them. I did find they were fine for studio monitoring though. I'd for sure classify Beyerdynamics as a durable headphone though.

I really like the Anker Soundcore Q30. I haven't been using as much, but in the last year they are my daily headphones and are amazing (at this pricepoint).
