I'm planning to go for an oversea vacation I need to buy a 75cm/30 inch luggage and I'm indecisive regarding what to buy. I have two options:

  • Samsonite S'Cure 170 EUR, 5 years of warranty
  • Briggs & Riley Torq 470 EUR, lifetime warranty.

I don't know how often will I travel big distances like that in my life, usually I travel around Europe, but I have a plan to go to Canada in the near future.

What's your take?

I would absolutely not spend 500$ on a piece of luggage I don't even know if I'll need to use regularly. I would look into second hand pieces or a backpack from somewhere like Osprey instead

Absolutely not worth it for you. Just grab whatever is cheap at Costco.

https://luggageworks.com/ is BIFL, but super heavy and totally overkill for someone that doesn’t travel 10+ times per month.

It's not worth it for most, myself included I used to travel extensively. At least weekly domestically and once a month overseas.

I've worn out backpacks and shoulder bags. Never a rolling carry on or suitcase.

Do they break? Yes, eventually. When they do have the airline pay for em. If your traveling enough to wear out or break a bag. You have status with the airlines. It's never taken me more than 20 minutes to get a brand new bag and be in my way.

Pelican makes the best luggage and has a great warranty.

Pelican Air 1615 is max checked bag size. Pelican Air 1535 is max carryon size.
