There'll be variations in style from the little pixie style my wife has, to the bovver boots useful for building sites and kicking fascists. Blundstone is generally regarded as very serious. Leather boots last long, longer if you take proper care of them (there's a WHOLE other sub devoted to that...) Not sure how long the elastic would last... or how easy to repair.
