If you want something unique, try KarasKustoms or Tactile Turn. Machined pens that will last a lifetime.

Lamy is a good option.

Parker makes great pens. Can’t even remember what I paid, maybe in the $25-60ish range.

Buy a Parker Jotter and use a space pen pressurised refill with adapter. $20 all in.

Lamy Safari or Pilot Metro. I’ve used both, prefer the grip of the Lamy but like the aesthetic of the Pilot more. r/fountainpens will serve you well.

I really like my Caran D’Ache 849. Lightweight and writes smoothly.

Tactile Turn and Big Idea Designs make great pens. But I usually end up carrying my Fisher Space Pen otherwise I drive people nuts fidgeting with the first two I mentioned.

Pilot!! I also recommend trying fountain pens, cheaper ones are still just as nice and you can just refill the ink into a converter, no more cartridges. The ink is non-permanent usually, but you can buy ones that are.

Cross makes some nice pens in that range.

I have a very expensive pen. I use big words quite often in substitution for semantically equivalent words.

Waterman pens. Look far more expensive and write very well. You can swap out G2 rollerball for waterman RB, not ball point

I love my Tactile Turn pens. I use Parker refills in them and have never been more satisfied.

Retro51 makes nice rollerballs and ballpoints. For fountain pens, the $5 disposable Pilot V-Pen (also known as the Varsity) is surprisingly good.

My favorite thing about Zebra pens is the silly video. It's actually a pretty OK pen too, just may not be the %woo-hoo you're after. The stainless F-701 is my edc.

For sheer writing comfort, my top inexpensive pick is Pilot's G2 rolling ball gel pen in either 0.7mm or 1.0mm.

Uniball Jetstream hands down. If you know, you know. Otherwise go buy one and find out. They are super inexpensive and a pleasure to write with.

Used to buy Mont Blanc cartridge when they costed next to nothing and jam them into much cheaper pens. There are instructions to that online and probably most good writing cartridge out there.

I don’t have this one yet, but I’m planning to get a Kaweco brass sport - everything I’ve heard suggests it’s a tank of a pen that’s got solid BFL / EDC quality

Fisher pens are pretty great. They are the "space" pens that can write anywhere. I used them in the Army, I've lost some, but one survives. Even after mud, dirt, tossed around, uses in rain, sand environments, it survives.

I have a brass Kaweco Liliput, and it is an EDC workhorse for the past 2+ years. It's been through the wash a half dozen times now—I sometimes forget that it's clipped in my trouser pocket. The nibs are easily replaceable if you drop or damage it (or just decide you like a finer or bolder line). It takes international short cartridges (but doesn't have enough space for a converter). I use Mont Blanc Permanent Blue cartridges in it.

In the 100+ USD range, I can't say enough good things about the Lamy 2000.
