My wife and I are looking for our first master bedroom set. Any recommendations for a real wood set that will last? We would like to spend 3500ish. If thats the wrong price range let us know :)

I don't necessarily agree with that. It might be true for whatever the trendy styles are today, but Mission and Shaker style furniture is from the 19th century and is still popular today.

I buy exclusively mid century wooden sets. Basically all mid century furniture. It’s high quality wood from a vintage store. For your budget you should be able to get a gorgeous set that will last a lifetime.

Hi there, I would look for a vintage store in your area. You can look on eBay or Etsy but would have to ship. You could get lucky with estate sales and donation shops but that will take time... it is an art, but entirely worth it...
Echoing some of the comments here, to get a true buy it for life quality complete set, 3500 will be a stretch. However, my partner and I have added very nice pieces in stages over the years and that approach has worked well.
We purchased the Thuma bed frame and we absolutely adore it. It uses Japanese joinery so it’s easy to put together, and the joints aren’t done with Allen screws that will start squeaking in 18 months. Our frame feels like a rock.
We also picked up a Leesa mattress after our wedding five years ago and it has held up very well.
Those two purchases would put you around $3000. You might be able to do Ikea dressers and side tables for now to keep your budget near that 3500 ballpark.

Looks like you might be in NC. If you can find at an estate sale or consignment, Drexel, Henredon, Stanley, Kincaid, Bernhardt, or Lexington from the made in the USA (NC) era, you will achieve your goal and price point too!
Buy used. If it lasted long enough to be resold it's probably made well.
Look into amish furniture. Very good quality, you can pick your wood, finish, hardware etc. If you live near the amish it can be cheap, if you don't, there are outlets in most urban areas, but expect a markup.
They make everything from the country sort of styles that you'd expect to very modern and timeless designs. Quite good quality.
My wife and I have outfitted our entire house one room at a time that way. Some of it is 30 years old and looks and works like new.
$3500 is possible (without mattress), but only if you are going to amish country. And there are also tiers of amish furniture. That may not get you top shelf hardware etc.

Bought Ethan Allen bedroom set (King bed, dresser, lingerie chest, 2 nightstands) 25 years ago for $6000. Still using it, still like the style. They only quit making that particular line in 2020. Very pleased with how it's held up. My husbands treatment of it I could say other things about :looking at gouges on his night stand:
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but $3500 is firmly the lower-end of "MDF with hardwood veneer" territory and that was before inflation.
If you must have solid wood at this budget, used furniture will be your best bet.
One way to save $ is to buy a very nice / custom headboard from one if the many woodworkers on Etsy for example. Then you pair it with a basic rail frame that you can get for $100.
Estate sales will be your friend. Everyone has their own style. Wife and I purchased a set of rustic pine furniture for all three bedroom from an estate sale. Paid about $3500 for all 14 pieces. They are simple but durable.

Not sure about woods, but Ikea sets seem to last a long time.
Lately they have replaced all their high quality wood pieces with particle board 😢
