Hi everyone,
since my researches didn't brought the desired results, I want to try making use of the hivemind.
For the past 10+ years I kept using a little cardholder from Calvin Klein, found in a larger regular wallet.
I used it as my main wallet and usually fold the bills to store them in on of the two departmenets, next to all my cards.
As time passed, the cardholder isn't looking exactly fresh no more, so I want to find a new one.

I'm looking once again for a cardholder that bifolds, is ultraslim and eventually has some mesh on the insides to see through and see the top cards inside.

Here's what mine look like:

I see you're using euros like me, have you heard of Tatonka or Tasmanian Tiger? Same company, different branches, high quality stuff shipped from Germany or from your local supply.

Here are two styles I think you would enjoy, both have RFID blocking

Small: https://www.tatonka.com/en/product/card-holder-rfid-b/#

Large: https://www.tatonka.com/en/product/card-holder-12-rfid-b/#

Wow they're so cheap, I'm surprised! Haven't heard of them but you got me hooked, thanks for sharing :)

Edit: just checked, they're really cool! I'm looking for this exact design but as leather or something similar though, something a little more fancy haha

I have a runbox wallet that I'm fond of and have had for a long time.

They have them on Amazon. I am on my second one, but only because I had a big plastic access badge for work and it stretched out the easy-access pocket on the front. So it wouldn't hold any cards anymore. It's not top grain leather or anything, but it seems very durable. I've had my current one for three years and it doesn't look used. My first was coffee, and it did end up stained by my blue jeans pretty quickly.

Ditto! I've had mine for 4-5 years and it works great.

Check out Osgoode & Marley. I've converted 3 people to their wallets (they offer lots of styles) and the leather is slim and not bulky with the right amount of pliability. My wallet from them, which I've overstuffed, is going on 11 years.

Something so simple can easily be custom made. Find a bag maker close to you and have him or her make not one but two. You shouldn’t have to buy another wallet in your lifetime.

Woah, I didn't even think of this possibility! Thanks, I will look into that just out of sheer curiosity

the other way is r/Leathercraft and DIY one. it will be the best one you've ever had because it's handmade for you, by you. do a search for 'wallet' or 'card holder' and snoop around. I'm sure many of them would do a commission and make one for you, or, again, you can DIY if you need another hobby lol

Amazing!! Never knew it there's such a community. I wonder if there's someone from Germany that I could for real ask for a commission. But I didn't even knew you could that haha thanks!!

The bellroy is my current favorite. Price is a little bit high though, consider that the brand is rather unknown

Sigh. Why are wallets so poorly designed? I've never had one that I was satisfied with. I had a beautiful LV once but I felt like a douche using it. Mom gave me a simple MK for chrimbus, it's aight.

Which one was it from LV? I agree, it's really hard to find a wow-looking one

That word doesn’t mean what you think it means

Whoops, I meant MJ. Marc Jacobs. Pretty sure she bought it from TJMaxx or something, she's not a big spender.

Are you married to a bifold? I personally like ones that don't open up and just have pockets, but to each their own.

Either way, you should have a BIFL experience with any good quality stitched leather. If there's a local leather shop near you, maybe consider that - otherwise there are plenty of places on Etsy or the rest of the internet where you can spend $30-100 on a wallet.

Hank's Belts makes wallets with a 100 year warranty. Popov Leather I think has a lifetime warranty and a high price point to match. But for my preference I'd go local.

big skinny wallets are cheap and hold up if you dont overstuff and stretch out the pockets unless you plan on keeping that slot totally full at all times. even my slot that has 5 cards in it still feels tight as long as i dont have less than 4 .you can fit sooo much and it still be thin.

nightsky_ OP t1_ise14n9 wrote

Oh 'big skinny ' is the brand. I almost ignored your comment because I thought you were talking in general about big, skinny wallets haha

Kreis Ledermanufaktur is a very high quality leather manufacturer in Germany. They got bifl wallets in every size. Got mine from my father after 15 years. Still brand new

I buy my wallets from Bosca. They have a wide variety with a variety of different leathers to choose from. You can even get them branded with your initials. I've had my wallet for about a decade and it still holds up great.
