I have just broken the plastic coupler on my immersion blender after less than a dozen uses. This the the second one that has sheared like this. Question, is there a brand of immersion blenders that are not all plastic and that last or should I just give up and use the vitamix?

The first immersion blender that sheared was a Cuisinart Smartstick and the one that sheared today was a Mueller Austria Ultra-stick 500w

I was only blending the cooked veggies for a chili verde when the coupler sheared- argh!

I bought a Kitchenaid model for $50 probably 10 years ago. Still works great.

How funny... I was just asking folks at work about this earlier this week. I had a Braun unit highly recommended to me but unsure if it's all plastic as you state.

I've been using a Braun for a while with no issues. Brands such as this one might be sturdier if you want to spend more in desperation...

This looks interesting, I’ll be headed to the restaurant supply store near me tomorrow. Hopefully they have something similar.

I’m not sure of the specific part you’re referring to (solely my ignorance on part names) but I’ve been using a kitchenaid two-speed for years and it’s been great. I use it several times a week and it’s been through frozen food to sauces with no issues. I have the older model, google’s telling me it’s the khb1231

Dynamic Mini Pro is a commercial grade immersion blender. I have one that I picked up at auction and it's great. I believe parts are replaceable. Only thing I don't like is that the cord is really long and can get in the way.

I believe every part is available to replace.

I was thinking along the same lines, surely a commercial model would have to stand up to regular use. Fortunately there is a restaurant supply store nearby so I’ll have a look and hopefully they carry the dynamic mini-pro or another like brand/model - thanks!

Do you know if this model will fit into a mason jar?

Spec sheet says that the head of the stick is 2.13". I think it should. I can check later today.

I have the Dynamic MiniPro. It’s excellent. I’ve actually talked to their engineers about their metal design. It’s made in France. Stop researching. Just buy it

It really is. I got mine for a steal but would pay full price if I needed one again.

Never used one, but vitamix makes one. Have been looking at it for a while now.

Just got a Vitamix. Used it for the first time yesterday and it’s my first immersion blender. Hope it holds up to the test of time.

Bamix is the daddy of immersion blenders, aimed at professional usage. Heavy duty motor. Choice of blades. Built for pro-use. https://youtu.be/5dW0Jyo5uWs

My favorite was a my roommate’s plastic Braun from the late 80’s. It was plastic, which meant it did not scratch Le Creuset enamel or non-stick, it had a strong, removable shaft that could go in the dishwasher. It was Braun quality, Those characteristics made it the perfect stick blender. It is a shame that most of the premium blenders are now all metal and not dishwasher safe. Solid and robust plastic is preferable for use in a Le Creuset.

My perfect combo would be a Bamix and an older plastic Braun for the Le Creuset.

Apparently I paid $27 for this one 6 years ago, it's been great for things like pureeing soups in the pot and making a home made version of a DQ Blizzard. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ARQVM5O/

I also had the Cusinart smartstick and unfortunately it sheared on the coupler shortly after I purchased it. I then purchased the Mueller Austria and that just did the same thing. The plastic coupler has become my nemesis

Breville. Have had one that’s lasted at least 6 years or so and still going strong. It also has a whisk and a mini food processor/chopper attachment that are both quite handy.

Just bought one for someone else too. $130

Never said to myself, mmm yes blender bifl. I've had a Bella 250w 6" for about +5 years and I've had great success with it.

LoblollyLol OP t1_itecppv wrote

Can’t say it’d be bifl but surely there should be a brand that will last a good long while with light to moderate use in a home kitchen. Having two of them from different brands both fail due to the same reason in under two years is unacceptable.

+1 for Bamix. Bought mine 15 years ago and it still works like new. It’s a workhorse and worth every penny.

I bought a Bamix MX105025 8 years ago. Still going strong, I make soup every other day during winter. Works great for mashed potatoes too.
