As a rule of thumb, if you see shoes from a company not known for making good shoes they are probably more often than not good at all. I've seen numerous boots from Carhartt and other brands and the quality is garbage. They just rely on their name to sell.

Poor, I worn a pair for work and the soles fell apart after around 8 months.. They were comfortable and look great but they don't have much life in them.

The material they use is trash. Garbage in garbage out, unfortunately that’s the reality of it with so many brands.

If you like chukkas, good news: Clark Bushacre II boots will survive 100 direct impacts from nuclear weapons and laugh. Their only weak point is the laces which suck ass, so buy they...measure the length and get some waxed cotton laces out of the gate. They aren't recraftable, but they just last and last and last and last....I think the soles are Nokia 3310s.

I will second this. I had a pair in college and they were essentially indestructible. I had them for four years and wore them on most weekends, they were nowhere close to needing a resole. Great shoe for the price!

I stick to their coats and that’s it. Have mine which is 7 years old and looks brand new and a 30 year old number that looks new after it’s wax. I’ve seen a lot more Barbour paraphernalia out there lately so my guess is their new stakeholders are marketing the name. The boots are probably made in Pyongyang or Bucharest or some shithole and licensed to Barbour

I would say that they are good value for money but those soles tend to be their weak spot. If you use them for regular office use they'll last bit outdoor they lose chips. They are nearly unreplaceable because there's no welt, the leather is flanged and sewn onto the sole directly so if the sole wears out the game's over. I love them but it don't feel they suit the BIFL label. And after all, proper care is an important part of BIFL.

I would stick to the wax jackets. Thecregular clothes are basically fast fashion.

I recommend Blundstone Boots. Have 10 year old Chelsea Boots, heavy wear every winter, they look like new, even the soles are hardly worn
