The double clicking issue occures in modern mice because the traditional fully mechanical micro switches they use (Omron D2F(C) and copies of that) are operated with vastly lower voltages and amperages than recommended by Omron and other manufacturers.

The solution to that is a mouse with optical switches (or mechanical-optical switches).

Asus has some mice that offer the advantage that the mouse is easily openable and the switches can be swapped out without any soldering, the optical switches on those have 5 pins, whereas the normal ones have 3 pins.

List of mice with optical switches

Asus: Chakram X, Gladius III (Wireless)

Cooler Master: MasterMouse MM730, MasterMouse MM731

HP: Omen Mouse Reactor

Logitech: G502 X, G502 X Lightspeed, G502 X Plus

Razer: Basilisk V2 (Pro), Basilisk V3 (Pro), Basilisk Ultimate, DeathAdder V2 (Pro), DeathAdder V3 Pro, Naga Pro/X, Viper (Mini/Ultimate), Viper V2 Pro

Roccat: Burst Core, Burst Pro (Air), Kone Pro (Air), Kone XP (Air)

SteelSeries: Prime series

I’d like to just say, I love you. I’d hate to ask another question on top of this but you seem like you are in the know of this matter, but do you know of a optical mouse with the twelve thumb buttons but does not require another application to run it? I’ve had problems with the double click and recently discovered optical switch mouses and went for the razed naga but I am getting tired of the synapse and cortex crap. Regardless you are a legend and thank you for this list!

I'm sorry, but I couldn't find any other mice with 12 or more side buttons and optical switches besides the Naga Pro & X.

Would you know by any chance whether some of those brands are compatible with Windows 7 ? I researched Logitech and Razer mice at some point, and their customization software, which is required to use them to the full, does not support Windows 7 anymore.

Roccat drivers support Windows 7

SteelSeries will work too if you use an older driver, but apparently it will auto update itself to a newer version.
