Check out Sebo. I have an E3 and really like it. Bags seem like a step backwards from bagless but after switching from a Dyson I'll never go back.

We also have a Sebo. About 8 years old now and going strong.

I think the SEBO X4 or X7 are probably my favorite vacuums. They're compact, relatively light, and more easily maintained than Miele vacuums.

I also have an E and it is fantastic. Bagged vacuums are (accounting to those who know more than me) much better at containing dust than bagless. That said, there is something so satisfying about seeing how much crap you vacuum up!
