I found this backpack which I love the look of, but it’s sadly outside my price range right now. https://www.customhide.com/ultimate-leather-backpack-p/5902.htm

I’m looking for something of a similar style in the $200-300 range that could serve as a carryon for travel. I travel light, but I would ideally use for long weekend trips. Backpack straps are a must-have (not just a crossbody strap) and I prefer not the roll top style bag, but for reference, this is the best bag that I’ve been able to find so far in my price range: https://www.portlandleathergoods.com/collections/almost-perfect-sale/products/almost-perfect-rolltop-backpack?variant=39819184668754

Thank you in advance!

My bf has had his for years. Look for leather backpacks that come from South America, where a lot of the best leather companies originate from.

I swear, fantastic craftsmanship in many things from S. America.

Edit: bc I sucked at spelling

I have multiple items from Portland leather, and I see no reason why I won't keep them for a long time, if not life. I have carried the two main bags I have daily (tote & mini xbody), intermittently, but they hold up well and look gorgeous. Scratches have rubbed out, leather has gotten softer, no real wear. Have also converted coworkers, lol. They have zipper top backpacks, so that may be better for you Check their "almost perfect" sale page too. If you have a Facebook, they have "portland leather insiders, and portland leather groupies". You may be able to score a cheaper backpack on b/s/t. Good luck.

I have this one from Will Leather Goods and I really like it. I got it on a sale a bit ago, but it feels solid and the leather is super nice.

This is out of your range as well but something to consider maybe down the line. You can't beat full grain leather with a 100 year warranty. Ive had this bad for a little while now after having a Saddleback wallet for many years with no wear (expect good wear). Theres also a bigger one around $650

Thanks for sharing- it looks like a beautiful option when I’ve saved up a bit!
