Duvet recommendation with no shifting

Hi All,

Just joined this subreddit because I was looking for a duvet cover and comforter combo that does not shift. Unfortunately, I did not find an answer.

I am looking for a duvet cover/comforter combo that doesn't shift when I'm sleeping. I currently own a LL Bean duvet cover and comforter combo where the comforter inside moves when I'm sleeping. When the comforter moves, it is not aligned with the duvet cover so I'm only covered by the duvet cover and not the comforter. I usually have to reach inside the duvet cover to get the comforter back in the proper position.

It's hard to describe so please let me know if I wasn't clear.

EDIT: Forgot to add that this comforter and duvet cover do tie at the corners. It just sags like crazy in the middle.

you need a duvet and cover that tie together in all four corners

Look for one that has loops inside that you can clip the comforter into. I think the product details will specify - at least that’s what I remember when I was shopping.

Our Red Land Cotton duvet and Frankenmuth Woolen mill comforter fits perfect and doesn’t move around. No ties or anything required, but the cover does have ties if need be. The only time we have to deal with it is when we wash the duvet cover so we take it out and then put it back in. The duvet was the best thing we did for our bed and they are like heaven

I have this issue with mine and I’ve considered adding additional ties in the middle of each of the 4 sides of the comforter. I haven’t done it yet, so no reports on how well/not well it would work.

Casper’s newer duvet and cover have 7 tie points, one on each corner and then an additional center one on 3 sides. It’s amazing as I had the same issue you mentioned before, now it never shifts out.

I got the Sateen sheets specifically, but each duvet cover should have the same amount of ties. I would confirm with support though before ordering.

Also the specific duvet I got is their humidity fighting duvet, which I highly recommend in general!

There are clips made for this exact purpose. They're not attractive, but they seem to be useful.

I’ve got a weighted comforter (Dr. Hart’s) and and a pretty basic duvet cover I found on Amazon (brand is rocabi). (The cover the blanket came with is warm enough to use by itself as a blanket)

Honestly, I’ve used duvets and duvet covers for 20plus years and have never used ties and never had this issue. The exception? When I’ve used very lightweight and cheaply made inserts that don’t fill the cover.

So my suggestion is get a heavier insert

you can simply stitch the cover to the duvet with embroidery thread. if you use big stitches, they're easily removed when it's time for washing.

a few of my duvet covers shift and this was the semi-permanent solution. not all of them shift, and sometimes clocking the duvet 180deg inside helped.

down duvets are lighter and fluffier and gave me less problems. we don't tie anything anymore, and the 'problem' covers are relegated to the bottom of the pile and don't see much use anymore.

Ikea duvet covers seem to be a tad bit smaller than standard sizes. I find this means they are perfect for ensuring a standard insert ( from another store) won’t slip around. I bought my insert from Target, it’s the all seasons one and has held up great for ~4 years so far. The key with IKEA sheets is ensuring you get the 100% cotton ones!

I gave up on duvet covers after staying in a hotel that did this. Top sheet, duvet, light blanket on top. It accomplishes the same thing as the duvet cover without at the hassle.
