I found my D&B at a thrift store too! I paid less than $10, not sure if it was legit. After carrying it for almost 2 years, and it looks just like it did when I bought it, I'm guessing its the real thing 😊

Talking about someone with baggage. ;-)

Seriously though, they've held up amazingly!

Oooh they’re great!! Nice taste, those bags are very timeless. Also I love the brown-green colour way D&B favours!

Wow / i had a couple of those in high school and felt so “grown”! You have kept them in amazing condition!

This was the “it” bag at my school in the 90s and tbh I’m still kinda bitter that I never had one. I own many nice bags now and have thought about buying an old worn dooney to throw around as a show of dominance.

I have the green bucket and the other green one in ivory; the bucket I was given in the 90’s for my own after thefting a caramel satchel (which was already years old at that time) out of my mom’s closet because Dooney was the In Brand then. One drawstring bag later and I thought I was some hot shit.

I have many vintage D&B now, but those two are still in the rotation. These are so nice and you will pass them down in your turn! The AWL Dooneys are hardcore BIFL, with the newer non-AWL styles also contending. So nice.

What's the style/name of the front black and brown one? I was given a hand me down years ago and didn't realize it was a BIFL brand. I can't find this style on their website.

Anyone know if they are still made in the US? Coach's quality absolutely tanked once they outsourced production

2

tikimora t1_ivkzeva wrote

They outsource. Their quality went on a similar path as Coach's. Anything before mid-90s is going to be best for both brands.

I have a D&B purse that looks brand new too. They really are high quality bags.

Great stitching, easy to wipe down. And they hold up a lot of abuse.

kinda dislike the bifl posts where the item in question is hardly used

Attropos t1_ivk435p wrote

I have a few nice bags that have seen *heavy* use but I regularly clean and condition them. They look just like this. If you care for your BIFL items, they don't just last. They'll look great too.

TonyTheTerrible t1_ivm4881 wrote

i agree with you, but in this picture even the stitches in the shoulder sling are pristine. i just dont think this is a case of a well taken care of collection but someone's collectors items.

a quick glance at op's posts shows shes a soon to be married 20 something as well, so shes not the original purchaser which reinforces my collectors items hunch.
