I have an opportunity to buy (cheaply) a brand new 14pc set of pots and pans from someone who never used theirs and is getting divorced. Is this BIFL? I have used other all clad stainless pieces in the past and they seemed to hold up very well but most of my stuff got lost or given away in many moves. I just don’t want to collect shit.

I have the copper core pans and I would snap that up in a HEARTBEAT. They are fantastic!

I also have copper core set. I love love LOVE it. I clean with Barkeepers friend it keeps the copper strip shiny. I will use these until I die. Absolutely buy them.

Defs bifl, however make sure you look at what is in the set. Usually bulk pots/pan sets like this have weird sizes that you may not use. Making the set as a whole not worth it and you may be better off buying individual ones of the sizes you prefer.

Worth it unless you won’t use them; They have been doing a lot of holiday and factory second sales recently, so it may be possible to get specific individual pans for less. Love my set and will probably pass it down someday. Using silicone spatulas prevents scratches and sticking. I use dawn power wash/non-scratch and it’s basically spray wipe and rinse.

I haven't used the copper core myself but I've heard very very good things about it. It should be just as bifl as the rest of all clad's stainless steel stuff

Copper is a superior metal for cooking. (Many of the fancy pants Michelin starred restaurants use them.) I'd buy this right now.

Are they getting divorced because someone spent too much on cookware?

I’ve had mine for 30 years - my daughter recently was married and received a set - - - we can’t tell the difference between her brand new and my 30 year old set. ❤️

BIFL. Great pans.

I have mostly D3/D5 stuff and sometimes I wish I had more copper core.

What’s the difference? Conduction only?

It's more sensitive to temperature changes, comes in handy when making candy or cooking dairy. On a less nerdy note, I like the shape of the copper core handles better than the regular D3 handles.

I have a few pans from all-clad (not copper core) and can't say enough good things about them.

I have all clad copper core pans and they’re AMAZING!!! Super high quality and they’re a dream to cook with. I’ve had mine for about a year and as I expected, they show no signs of wear (and I bought some of them used). I can’t recommend them enough

Do you need the copper core set? Probably not. But if you can get them for the price of the D3 (this would be a steal) or D5 (you can still justify this) then buy them. All-Clad is definitely BIFL. You’ll hear arguments about comfort or preference but not about quality or longevity.

They’re quite heavy and if you care you’ll need barkeepers friend to polish the copper when it tarnishes. But they’re awesome and you should absolutely snag them.

It might be important to note that they probably won't work with an induction stove, just fyi.

They do. Can personally confirm that they actually work really, really well.

I have a few and they are absolutely worth it. I would pay retail if I had too.
