Suggestion for long, wide slice toaster

I bought the Breville "Bit More" toaster on recommendation from America's Test Kitchen and it's kinda crap-uneven toasting and the selector knob broke within a month. Anyone out there happy with their long, wide slice toaster? Thanks!!

Maybe you got a dud unit with the Breville? I've had that same wide-slice Breville for more than 7 years, use it all the time, never had any issues with toasting, nobs, etc. Might be worth getting another unit to see if it's any better.

You may be right. All reviews were good when I bought it. That being said, it was damn near a hundred bucks and I'm a little gun shy on pulling the trigger on another one.

You should email them with the serial number and your receipt. I haven’t had an issue with breville products specifically but most companies I’ve dealt with of that tier are more than happy to hear your complaints and often will send a replacement.

If you can find a used “toast-o-lator” (check eBay) you’ll find that it can take bread of basically any length. My grandma had one and for parties she’d slice a loaf lengthwise and pass it through the mighty toast-o-lator. The bread would pass through slowly and toast away as it passed.

There's something to be said for old appliances...my garage fridge is thirty something years old and it's outlasted two newer kitchen units.

Oh, man! This is right up my alley...other than the fact that the slots aren't long enough for my usage. I am seriously eyeing their kettles, however! Really love their business model and design. Thanks for introducing me to them :)

We have the last generation of this Cuisinart long slot toaster and we love it

Not sure just how wide you need, but I was very frustrated with most toasters not being able to handle the longer slices you get from round bread loafs. Had it for about 7 years now. I got ours from Kohl's.

That looks great! It Toasts evenly? That's my biggest beef with the Brevil-Ends are black and middle is barely tan

Yes, as long as you make sure all of it stays in the "cage." Once or twice I've put a long thinly sliced piece of bread in it and didn't make sure it was all in the cage so I got a black tip.

I’ve been using my KRUPS 4 slice toaster for about 2 years now and love it. It’s reliable, easy to use, and the bread holes are genuinely large enough for both long and thick bread/bagels.

I’ve had the kitchen aid long slice toaster for 5 years and it’s still going strong. Despite daily use, it still looks pretty much brand new (with regular cleaning).

We have a Cuisinart, bought it about five years ago at Goodwill for five bucks. Zero problems, zero complaints.

A few years ago I bought a different Waring after much research; I will not make the same mistake. It toasts unevenly due to though-free design, and is crap for sundry other reasons. I would absolutely not recommend a Waring, sadly.
