Reply to comment by Kalashnikov_n_Knife in 10 year old Gerber Dime broke. Gerber replaced it no questions asked. by Kalashnikov_n_Knife
You know I know people love Leatherman but Gerber seems to honor their products and I find them slightly more user friendly for my needs.
To each their own but the dime and the suspension nxt are awesome.

I have a suspension that recently broke. But it was a hand-me-down. I would assume documentation is required for any kind of replacement. ðŸ˜

I mean seems worth an email.
I definitely kept my card back though when I bought it but I'm neurotic like that.

Nope. My 10-year-old suspension broke a few months back. I emailed their warranty department through the website with a photo of the suspension attached and received a brand new replacement 2 months later, no questions asked.

I broke my MP600 twice, admittedly user mismanagement — mailed it in and asked what it would cost to replace broken knife and they just sent me a full new MP600 both times
I’ll only buy Gerber now for multis or knives etc

I used to work at Gerber. We sold so many Suspensions, I don’t even know why we made other stuff.

Gerber knives are incredibly solid.
They need to be resharpened fairly often, but the durability and their customer service is S tier.
the_wrath_of_Khan t1_iwkb1yq wrote
They also make a ton of stuff in China that is very low quality compared with the same items they used to make in the US. Their warranty is great but their made in China knives as junk.
invisimeble t1_iwl40jv wrote
I think you typo’d A tier.
ShellSide t1_iwl4ioi wrote
S tier is above A tier. It's common in gaming

TIL. Thanks. Why?
Blastercorps t1_iwlinwd wrote
One-up-manship. Special rank is above merely A rank.
Mickey-the-Luxray t1_iwn9iuv wrote
S-ranks are actually a feature of Japanese academic grading, being their equivalent to an A+. Hence, Japanese games used that scale for their own grading, and thus the practice followed them across the pond.
Some games even have SS, SSS, or X ranks to denote extra super special ones.

Are you aware of Leatherman NOT honoring their products and warranties? I'm honestly curious
Grew up farming and myself, uncle, and grandfather all had multiple Leathermans sent in for repair (and returned fully cleaned and sharpened) or outright replaced over the years.
I prefer Leatherman personally but I also know that Gerber was the one with the military contract when my unit went to Afghanistan. It was a solid tool but there's just something about Leatherman for me. Probably nostalgia n whatnot but still.
I have owned tons of other Gerber products tho
Arcade80sbillsfan t1_iwlf0b4 wrote
I wasn't saying Leatherman didn't...more that Gerber did but since you mention it someone else posted on here about them not.
I mostly was saying that for me Gerber has served me better (types lf combos etc).
And the price is exceptional.

Leatherman has turned down returns on me twice. I don't buy them anymore, but every few years it feels like I'm gifted a new one. I just can't escape them.
Telemere125 t1_iwlq6yb wrote
I have at least 4-5 in various places in my house and shop. I don’t think I’ve ever bought one and can’t even remember getting one as a gift. I think they just show up sometimes
