I was just about to type "I wish they came with an hour meter on them" like a tractor or something

Came here to say this. Also, a 30 year old kitchen appliance that still has the box is evidence it's stored more than used.

what do you need these things for?

Saw this picture and thought I was tripping. Purchase date on the manual is listed as 8/31/96, which makes it about 3 years older than I am! I borrowed it from my parents to use at my Friendsgiving this past weekend.

There’s an hamburger restaurant where I live and I’ve been going there since I was a little kid, early 2000s, they are still using those same electric knives to cut hamburgers in half so the client can eat without makin a mess. They do it by default on every hamburger/sandwich

why do people even use this?

uhh, that's how you store appliances. everyone keeps the box for all of them.

I didn't learn this trick until too late in life. It really does make a big difference.

This thing kick butt at cutting foam blocks. We cut custom cushions for our camper and this saved us a lot of time.

Mine is the same, my dad gave it to me with the box. It’s the bomb for carving ham but the real best use I’ve gotten out of mine is cutting foam for diy cushions. Omg it is the easiest way to cut foam imaginable. I’d keep it just for that if nothing else.
And the box, it’s nice to keep it stored in there.

i can't see these things without being reminded of Ennis Del Mar's ex wife's new beta husband using one of these to carve a turkey. that scene makes these things seem so lame.

Everytime I have seen these used they have been more work than my meat carving knife. Cuts meat like butter and will go through bone too

It it the absolute best thing to use carving meat or fileting fish.

I use mine for cutting flank steak. Cutting at an angle sucks without the electric knife.
