Pendleton phone customer service should also have no problem placing an order with split payment

Nordstrom, Pendleton also has a few outlets I believe

15

Agreeable-Tadpole461 t1_j218p47 wrote

Be careful at the outlets. Often, products made for outlets are very much of "outlet quality", and made specifically to be an outlet price.

Rundiggity t1_j21lghl wrote

Which could be superficial or cosmetic and still offer a great , while blemished, wool blanket. For a discount.

Edit: outlet is not what I thought

gremlincowgirl t1_j21nfn4 wrote

They’re saying often they aren’t the “blemished” or slightly-not-perfect ones made for retail, they’re made specifically for the outlet. I.e., not made to last with subpar materials even though the brand might be known for its excellent quality.

Rundiggity t1_j21ugli wrote

Oh I see. That doesn’t sound good

It’s great if you want the “look” of the brand at a lesser price, but terrible if you’re looking for BIFL!

Reach out directly and ask. Both to split a payment or where they retail at.

Are the ones at costco the wool ones (that cost hundreds) or are they fleece (that are like $50)?

Those look really nice, but I think they are probably different from the wool ones people go nuts over. I've never used either. One of these days I want to check them out. They certainly have a loyal following around here.

Slept under the one my grandmother got when she went off to college. She graduated in 1940. Yes, they really are that good snd last that long. I did not inherit it, but I also live where we have generally very mild winters. My cousin who lives in the mountains got it.

-Chris-V- t1_j21b42c wrote

Cool! I can't wait to try one. Are they itchy (bc wool)?

1

penlowe t1_j21dt1t wrote

Yes, but nana always had really good sheets and usually a light cotton blanket in between. So you only noticed it if you left your arms out or something.

I_Have_Unobtainium t1_j21mrbr wrote

We actually just received one from Costco as an xmas present yesterday. Pretty decent feel to it, it's 100% polyester and made in china, and I assume just the design is the licensed thing from Pendleton. I don't mind it but it ain't the real thing by any stretch.

3

_yogi_mogli_ t1_j232en7 wrote

They completely lack breathability. I run cold but always woke up in the dead of night in a pool of sweat. In a matter of months, I donated the 2 fleece blankets I'd bought at Costco to the thrift store. Honestly the worst blankets I've ever bought.

kosnarf t1_j213q0g wrote

I have only had mine for two years. No issues so far. In total my household has about 6 lol

1

SparklePrincess33 t1_j22nqyx wrote

instead of doing a split payment on two cards, you can probably buy a gift certificate at the store you want to buy the blanket from and then use the gift certificate along with your other card for the final payment.

*I work for an online retailer and this is how we get around split card payments.

wordofmouthrevisited t1_j21jm1y wrote

Vermont has a physical Pendleton store. We used to have one and it was not “outlet quality” in our experience

3

highleveldirty t1_j21o7p9 wrote

Go to a Pendleton outlet. Don't know where you're located, but there are definitely brick and mortar stores where you can check out the blankets in person.

Nearest one is 6 hours away also no car so not a good option

If you can't travel then maybe narrow your range. Asking where on the entire East coast is a waste of everyone's time if you can't leave Newark.

If they have them on Amazon you can buy a $150 giftcard and pay the rest on credit card. It looks like they might also have them at cabelas in which case you could buy a $150 cabelas gift card and do the same

2

CressiDuh1152 t1_j2295wk wrote

Never buy on Amazon if you actually care about getting a specific brand, the fulfillment model encourages fakes.

Basically only use Amazon if you are ok with the cheap Chinese version

10

canadian_boyfriend t1_j21ru1v wrote

You can buy an e card from Pendleton online and use that on the blanket. Online gives you the most options.

2

togetherwecanriseup t1_j21sssy wrote

Also, if they have PayPal as an option for checking out, that has a "split payment" option. Not sure if it would achieve what you're looking for.

2

kingcreamEAT OP t1_j21yfzo wrote

How do you do this?

1

togetherwecanriseup t1_j222x5f wrote

You would just set up multiple payment cards in your PayPal account, then when you go to pay on the site, choose "PayPal" at checkout. It would then redirect you to your PayPal account, where you'd see the option to "split payment." You specify how you want it split there, and when you're returned to the Pendleton website, it just shows "PayPal" as the payment method. Pendleton doesn't know anything about how the payment is being handled by PayPal.

I was in Pendleton yesterday. I thought about stopping and getting a blanket. But didn't because I can't stop driving once I start. You should fly to Boise, rent a car and drive the 4 hours to Pendleton, buy the blanket then drive back to Boise and fly back to the east coast. Only then will you feel truly attached to your blanket. But who am I to talk?

ChondroArt t1_j21t035 wrote

You can use your gift card + a credit card to make up the difference online, assuming that’s your goal. We just bought a king sized wool blanket a few months ago doing just that. I do recall it was kind of buggy on the site though—something to the effect of it not recognizing the gift card at first when I tried to split the payment. If that’s what happened to you, just try again a few times and it will work.

With that said, we are also on the east coast (VA/DC area) and I spent months trying to find a convenient location that sold Pendleton’s so that I could feel the difference between napped and unnapped before throwing down the extra cash. You’ll want to decide on that too, if you haven’t considered it. We settled on an unnapped design, which is thin with sharper details. Napped will be physically thicker (but with the same amount of wool) with less defined patterns.

Seaborn63 t1_j23jfv4 wrote

In case you've had no luck, I ordered mine from REI Co-op online, and I believe they have physical stores too. You may want to look to see if one's close to you and see if they ahve what you want in stock.
