It's fine. The heat seal probably broke during shipping.

It came in a sealed box, not just like this with a shipping label on it, right? Minimal exposure to outside elements. Smell it. Is it musty? No? You're good.

That's what they want you to think!

This was done deliberately, how else are they supposed to add the small-pox?

If this was in a box, I wouldn’t worry about it. Did you take the blanket out and were there any issues with it? If not, then stop worrying!

Haha no I haven’t taken it out yet; I took pause when I opened the box and saw it like this because I was concerned that perhaps it might’ve been exposed to something bad while sitting around the warehouse in this condition (like bugs, etc.) But maybe it tore in shipping and maybe even if it’s been torn for awhile in the warehouse like this it’s no big deal if it looks ok

It;s opened too neatly & precisely for it to have been anything other the the seal coming apart.

Which, presumably, is something that happened during shipping, thus likely no big deal? It seemed to happen a bit on the other side as well; perhaps just a defect in the seal on this package. My concern was predicated in it being exposed for an unknown period of time in a warehouse or whatever

I of course don’t know when the package ripped but I guess my only concern is if it sat like that in the warehouse for awhile, could that be a problem as far as bugs/moisture/etc. might be concerned or should it not make any real difference since the zippered bags they come in aren’t exactly airtight anyways?

Give it a look and a sniff. If you don't notice anything unusual, you are good to go.

Wool is an amazing material. It's naturally anti-bacterial, doesn't absorb much water, is more or less self-cleaning unless it gets really dirty. You'll be fine.

I would contact them and ask what they can do to help.

In theory they should offer you a discount or to return the product for another one.
