Hey All - I wanted to up my casual shirt/flannel/ dress shirt game a little from my current Charles tyrwhitt 3 for 99 selection. Although the price is great I have never been happy with the fit and I realized that I have never found any shirts that fit me in a flattering way. They would always be too long and blousy and I have that problem especially with casual shirts as I can never find anything that seems to be meant to worn untucked. I don’t think I’m that hard to size for either. I’m about 6’1 160lbs so just an average tall skinny guy with flat chest and belly though my shoulder frame is pretty broad. I don’t think my build is that unusual where I have to go made to measure and tailors in NY are just so expensive. Has anyone found a good quality shirt (all kinds dress, casual, solid color flannels) brand that they swear by for tall skinny guys? I would love to just find a brand that works and get everything from there. Any help appreciated!

TLDR: tall skinny guy looking for brand suggestions for high quality shirts, especially those that can be worn untucked,

Find a strip mall tailor (i.e. you are looking for cheap - usually around $10-20 per shirt) with good reviews and get any shirt you like.

I'm not skinny but i am tall. However, everything big and tall (i.e. 3x-4x) just looks way too wide on me. So I buy the 4x and take it to them, they pin me up and within a week i have a perfect set of shirts. Yeah it ends up costing a bit more but the outcome is much more comfortable and just looks cleaner.

LL Bean has worked great for me. They have most of their clothing with tall and slim options.

A lot depends on the fit you're looking for here but there are definitely a lot of options. More on our site (all MIUSA brands) that we've been curating, but some of what I (6'0, 145lb) think are worth looking at:

https://leftfieldnyc.com/ - looser/boxy fit

Velva Sheen - tighter fit/shorter sleeves (sold at a lot of online shops, check Canoe Club for just all around good stuff.

https://bravestarselvage.com/ - about right fit

https://ladywhiteco.com/ - leans tighter

https://harvestandmill.com - expected fit, casual basics

https://standardissuetees.com - haven't tried one, but looks promising

You could also go the semi-tailored route with Todd Shelton. It's quality stuff with top-notch customer service. You can customize the fit for each piece through some easy to use cues. Definitely worth a look if you're struggling to find things that fit just right. Years ago I had them match an out of production pair of APC jeans that fit great and they helped me through it all.

Check out Gustin. They have great Made In USA shirting that is usually very high quality.

6'5'', 200. American Giant has worked great for me in a large.

I really like Barbour tailored fit shirts, I‘m pretty tall and skinny and they sit perfectly

You first need to learn the metrics of shirting as you don't know them. Shirts give zero fucks about your height and weight. Shirts care about your chest measurement, your neck measurement and your sleeve measurement. This is probably why you are currently unhappy with CT as you are buying randomly vice specifically. I'd recommend you go to the closest CT location and get fitted and then try on an example of their fits to determine what you like.

Now if you live too far, another option is custom. https://www.moderntailor.com/ and https://www.itailor.com/designshirts/ being options though there are others.
