I bought a Legendary Whitetails Men's Tough as Buck Vest and a Legendary Whitetails Men's Journeyman Shirt Jacket a little less than a year ago, and I ripped both of them working construction and on the farm. I want to find both a work vest and a work shirt jacket that are far more durable, tougher, and stronger that I can wear daily whether I'm working agriculture or construction, but I don't know what my best bet is. Any suggestions?

I bought a Sherpa lined Carhartt coat years ago. It’s now splattered with liquid nails, paint, etc. so it looks horrible. But it’s still very warm and indestructible. All buttons, zippers, seams, etc still work/closed. Only problem for me is the hood is extra big to accommodate a hard hat. It either falls down to cover my eyes or I have to roll it up.

(Thanks for the heads up on Legendary Whitetails. I was thinking of buying a new coat and the finalists were Carhartt, Dickies, or them. I’ll cross them off my list.)

Look at Patagonia workwear. Expensive but I’ve been very happy with my pants and coat.

I have that exact coat in grey. I bought it in maybe 2016 off the clearance rack at tractor supply for $40. One of the best coats I've ever owned for durability. I have sheep cows and pigs and wear it all the time. It gets abused and holds up to the abuse.

Patagonia Workwear line rather than the normal outdoor ones or for a rugged but more budget option Tough Duck. Carhartt sizing is weird and I don't find them as durable. We've got a sherpa-lined Dickies vest that takes abuse like a champ too.

For work shirts I have had good luck with older field and stream heavy chamois shirts and jachs brand flannel shirts. Pretty reasonably priced on eBay. If you want to treat yourself, anything USA made Filson tin cloth is fantastic. Pricey, but so nice.

Ship john has an awesome waxed 18 oz canvas vest. Tough as nails and a staple piece in any collection.
