Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a new floor lamp. For many years I had a lamp like this (from Target I believe), but unfortunately I had to get rid of it when the upright part became detached from the base. Earlier this year I bought a similar model from Amazon, but the upright rod was a lot slimmer and flimsier. Sure enough, less than a year later it's already tilting and becoming detached from the base. I tried looking on Target but unfortunately it seems like all of their multi-head lamps have thin, flimsy rods now (judging by the pictures at least).

Can anyone recommend me a really good floor lamp? I like these multi-head floor lamps because they provide a lot of light but can also be adjusted. I'm open to different types of models as long as the light/adjustment (and durability) requirements are met. I live in the Midwestern US and would say my budget is $150.

Determine what height you prefer. They're not all the same height. My personal preference is one that, when I'm sitting down next to it, I can't see the whole bulb exposed while looking up at it.

I'm looking for one that will go next to my bed, so I would like it to be about the same height/taller than the bed's headboard. I think that's about 4 and a half or 5 feet?

The shorter ones seem to be 58". I'd recommend one that can handle 3-way bulb.

I love lamps.. I have 6 in my living room, not counting the light of my ceiling fan. Only one turned at a time, unless it's a really dark day.

I’ll look into that, thanks!

I meant that I don't want to see the bulb, or most of it, when I'm sitting down next to the lamp. Trust me, for a floor lamp next to you when you're sitting you don't want one of the tall ones.

Your best bet is to find one in person and feel how sturdy it is. Not much can fail on a lamp

Check out Ikea. They have lots of lamps like that, they last and are dirt cheap.

This is not a multi head but I have one called Brightech SkyLite LED Floor lamp, got from Amazon, costs between $60-$70.

Been almost 3 years, still works as new.

Super bright (for 15" x 15" room) and reflects light from the ceiling. I like the little button switch which is at right height say if you are lying in the bed, press and hold to dim or brighten and tap to off/on. The switch also has a very faint orange led so you can find it easily in a dark room. One cons is, it can be a little wobbly, but if its going in a corner, not too big a deal
