Looking for Cool Parka for Guy

Like the title said. Can you please recommend me some high-end parka that are not Canada Goose or Moncler? I just dont like Canda Goose and Moncler really visible branding. My budget is $500 - $600. At first i thought about buying Woolrich parka but people say their quality went down since they moved their production to China so im having second thought about them. I need my parka to be warm and be water resistant/ water proof also have a hood. I dont really care if they have fake fur or real fur or gore-tex. Thank you.

Edit: Thanks for all the recommendations. After looking at all the brands im leaning towards Fjallraven Singi Parka in their Deep Forest(green) color. Im still open to recommendations though especially if they are green.

I've got a 3-1 that after ten years, the inner puff was a little flat. Took it in to get it refluffed... Instead they gave me a free exchange with a brand new jacket...

Lifetime warranty that they stand by, and a focus on sustainable practice? They get my money every time.

Sort of? I had to bring the physical jacket in for exchange, with both pieces.

They looked at it, agreed they could not repair the inner piece and exchanged the whole thing for free.

I guess there's something about how those are stuffed that they can't fix? Idk ..

Any parka with a non-tech, non-DWR exterior will be able to last a long time since you can reapply wax and usually those fabrics are harder wearing.

Fjallraven and some other brands have Parkas like this.

Take a look at Nobis. I've been really happy with mine and I think it fits all your requirements (although cost may be slightly higher than the budget listed, I don't quite remember).

Soo.. what I’ve found over the years is that it has to fit well to be warm; no random internet recommendation is going to help you. Try on a bunch. I’ve had a bunch and the warmest one I ever had, which seems to be indestructible, a decade and zero sign of wear, is from – ready for a surprise ? J.Crew. Go figure.

Helly Hanson has a particular sailing style that puts some people off. I’ve had two HH parkas and they are amazing. They are pretty moderately priced. Worth looking at sales!

Check out Quartz parkas. Made in Canada, the warmest coat I’ve ever had, very durable. I’ve had mine for 8 years and it looks new. May be a bit out of your price range but they do have some Boxing Day sales.

That will likely break down over a short period of time. I finally wrote them off as a 100% designer fashion company now.

Delamination, poor fills, shit cust service etc. etc. etc.

I’ve had the opposite experience. Though, my arcteryx products are older, I still find their customer service to be responsive. However, some of their new “designer” products are hideous which is a shame

Filson has a 'down cruiser parka' that looks nice. It's out of stock right now.

That Fjallraven Singi parka looks good, but... for $600 and it's not even really that waterproof, I just couldn't. I got a cheaper North Face parka on sale at REI.

A genuine M51 us army issue parka is absolutely the coolest looking parka. At nearly 60 years old it'll probably last a lifetime too.

Edit-they are warm, with liner, but were designed for layering underneath. They are not waterproof. Still cool as though.

I don’t think I see Spiewak mentioned much here - not sure if it’s because people have quality issues with theirs, or, if it’s just a lesser purchased company. I’ve had a parka for 10 years and it’s still in great shape, perfect zippers and the fur liner for the hood is still fluffy

I bought a very warm parka in 1998, before I learned the wonder of layers. It was my go to 98-2017. It’s still used on the worst days and up in the mountains.

Mountain hardwear.

caveat, I do not know their current quality. Hopefully some will chime in

If I had to get another, I’d look at Patagonia.

Crescent down works. They are woman owned out of Seattle. Much better coat than Canada down and less expensive. I have their parka and I love it. Gets me through the coldest winters.

Fjallraven and Helly Hansen are good suggestions. I'd add Didriksons which is a lesser known Swedish brand but quite good.

Eddie Bauer might not be what it used to be but you still get a lot of parka for the money. Real, thick down, water resistant exterior lots of pockets.

I have a bogner. Have had it for 6 years at its amazing. I think a lot of their stuff is fashion, but I was able to find a plain black one. Love it. Nobis is also very good. Subtle branding.

A couple years ago I bought an Alpha Industries N3B Parka. Living in a place where below-freezing temperatures are the norm for the majority of the year, it's one of the best investments I've made. Two years later, the jacket is still chugging along with no visible signs of wear.

I have a Patagonia Tres Parka. 3 in 1. For 85-90% of winter in Montreal it's perfect either as the parka(liner and shell) or just the down puffer liner alone. It's sharp classic looking, practical outside side zip breast pocket for wallet and two large pockets for gloves etc . Patagonia's service is awesome. I've had mine over 6 years without any issues.

We moved from the south to New England. My husband has raved about his Patagonia Jackson Glacier Parka. He never feels the slightest bit cold, and so far we’ve tested it down to around 10 degrees and high winds.

I have a Barbour Beaufort I bought 15 years ago after I met an Englishman I with one from 1983. That was in 2005. I’m still wearing it. It needs to be re-waxed, but is otherwise in great condition despite regular wear. You can buy a hood that snaps on, which has a stiff wire in the brim to keep the hood out of your eyes. I also bought a zip-in liner that doubles as a vest.

It’s made of waxed cotton and is waterproof. The water just beads up and rolls off. The waxed cotton is durable and thorn-proof. You can periodically re-wax it or send it in for waxing and/or repairs.

All of the zippers are high quality brass and feature large ring pulls that are easy to manage even with gloves.

It’s in the price range you’re looking at. They’re a pretty timeless style and should last a lifetime unless you abuse it.

Sure you can, $1000+ parkas sell every year at those prices at the clearance racks in stores like Sail. The only company that doesn’t let retailers do that is Canada Goose, and OP has already made it clear they’re not into the shoulder patch cult.
