Have the viofo duo. Never had to really use it, but can verify it works. I think the app sucks though. Haven't figured out how to unlock files from the app.

I have this and always just take the sd card to my computer. It really doesn’t do well on the phone app

I dis not even know it had an app, always just use sd card

Another vote for Viofo, have them on two cars, both have been flawless. Not bloated or overpriced either.

Watch "linus tech tips" video on dash cams! it's SUPER informative and will give you a ton of details about dash cams, their price range, and worth

E: It's on YouTube; forgot to mention that

I would recommend watching this video before you buy a dashcam.

Dashcams are a GREAT idea and something absolutely everyone should have IMO. But don't fall for the scam of thinking there is all that much in terms of quality difference based on brands. Most of them are more similar to each other than not, and the only real differences are in form factors, features and software.

I’ve got the garmin mini. Has great reviews. It was pricey. But has been very reliable. I think you get what you pay for with these things.

Blackvue for your safe driving.

Love my Blackvue, but it’s “battery monitor / auto shutoff feature” is horrible. It’s drained my battery so many times, even at the max voltage cutoff.

2nd this. Also zero problems with battery cutoff per other redditor comments. Purchased 2021

I'm really happy with my Thinkware F800 front/rear camera setup having had their F770 for around 5 years with zero problems before that. I've had many makes since they first came out and Thinkware has been the most reliable... it just works! Great quality picture day and night and a nice compact camera. Not the best known brand out there, but look them up and read the reviews. Btw I also invested in a battery pack to leave it on when vehicle parked up to catch parking bumps (it saves flattening main battery)

Just watched a great review for Garmin's new Mini 2, which fixed over heating problems with the original mini. Makes me interested in this model.

Thanks for this, u/LetsBeginwithFritos ! I had been reluctant to buy any dash cam due to the power wiring issue (getting wiring installed in headboard professionally), which your suggestion totally solves!

Thanks, my Honda has the dimming rearview mirror but I gotta check the connector pins to see if the Toyota one will work - the website only says a cryptic "some models".

On closer inspection mine has 14 pins and doesn't match anything I see on the website. I emailed them a photo of the connectors but I'm thinking I'm SOL. Thanks for the suggestion, though! We'll soon see if they have new products in the works or just what.

I have the Blackvue Dr 750s for at least 4 yrs now and it's been great. I believe they got the newer versions so it's easier to wire and no need for the power magic pro.

I used to use owl (so so so good) until they went defunct and were resurrected as some crappy bastardized brand. Bought a cheapo cam from Amazon during prime day (Rove R2-4K Dash Cam Built in WiFi... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JT3698?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) and it has already paid for itself (x4) with one incident where a woman threw her door open in front of my car. Sometimes all you need is something that gets the job done.

Thinkware! I went through about 4 brands which all died in a matter months. I'm going on 4 years I think with my thinkware ones.

That’s what I ended up with. Actually just got back from picking up from Best Buy arrived little early. Now to hardwire and 🤞🏽 it last as long as yours.
