"Made in Canada" ... they'll last.

"Made in China" ... after one winter of mild use the rubber will start cracking on the side where it creases from walking, and the sole will separate from the boot.

I speak from experience.

And mine! Just had to throw mine out after a couple of repairs the upper rubber gave out and they were useless.

I won't buy Sorel again I'm afraid.

It's really unfortunate. The two pairs I have from about 12 years ago are still in phenomenal shape. The pair from ~3 years ago is already in need of major repairs.

My 63 year old mom has a pair of L.L. Bean boots from when she was in college and they're still holding strong!

If these are reasonably new they’ll be going in the garbage within the next couple years.

In my personal vendetta against Sorel who wouldn’t even talk to me when this happened to my boots, I have pledged to myself to show this pic to everyone what Sorel quality really looks like: https://i.imgur.com/wSc4FxN.jpg

This is why I lurk on this sub. I was gonna order a pair of waterproof (duck) boots and was considering Sorel as I knew the name and their good reputation. Good to know their quality has changed.

Bought this pair in 1983 to go snowboarding in SoCal, back when we had to hike the hills as they would not let us use the ski lifts at Mt Baldy

Aspen Mtn was the same back then! I have some vintage bulky Sorrel SnowLions that have held up really well too....sad to hear that their quality has gone downhill as of late.

Essential winter gear if you walk or use transit in anything colder than -8C. With two pairs of regular socks, my feet stay warm standing for an hour at -25C.

Ah, just checked mine; made in Vietnam. No problem though. I’ve had them a couple of years but they’re too nice to wear outside especially in bad weather.
