Hi all - any recommendations for a BIFL bathroom scale that’s no more than $50? Have had some negative experiences with longevity of digital scales but could be convinced. Thanks!

Sub $50 I’d go digital. No analog scale at that price will be BIFL.

I have an Escali kitchen scale. It's doing great.
For anything that requires a calibration it's almost always cheaper and more robust to go for a digital option in modern times. It's not hot and sexy like an old school hunk of metal, but labor and materials are way more expensive than they used to.
I hate everything battery powered. But the engineer brain takes over sometimes.

If you just need it to tell you how much you weigh, I'd go with a dial scale. I set it when I go to the doctor's office because I know their scales are accurate. Mine was about 8 lbs off when I bought it. There's nothing to really break in it that I know of, and they're cheaper.

I bought this one recently when the one I had quit working properly. Typically, they have to be replaced every few years for one reason or another.
BIFL? no idea, probably not. But it works well, has a tracking app for your phone that is great, and according to reviews it is one of few that is actually consistently accurate. I like it.

It’s a “it depends” answer. A good manual scale will almost certainly outlast a digital scale but you don’t get as many features. I’ve used a pretty wide range ( in terms of cost) of digital scales and none of them lasted more than 2 years. I’ve had a ConAir manual scale for over 10 years and it shows my weight! I have to calibrate it once in a while but for close approximations, I find it a good compromise. I forgot how much I paid but it wasn’t much.
