Hi, I am currently looking for a good company that makes good quality leather wallets. I know of Nomad and Bellroy, etc. But I'm looking for like American companies/creators that specialize in making these things. I want a card wallet that can hold up to 10 cards. Maybe some bills, but I don't carry many bills.

Another thing I like to be picky about is a card holder/ wallet that has enough slots to put one card in each slot because I don't want to stretch out the wallet by putting too many cards in a slot. Any suggestions are welcomed. I'm already looking into Buffalo Billfold Company.

Are they actually good? Or is it just for branding?

Never owned Shinola but the prices are fair and some/most/all is Horween leather. Nothing wrong with that!

Seconding this. Have a wallet from them going on 4 years and it’s only gotten better. Love their navigator leather

I posted here 4 years ago about something similar and someone recommended A-Slim wallets and it’s in outstanding condition till this day. It’s a bit on the pricier side but I wouldn’t hesitate to replace it if I lost it. I see no reason it shouldn’t last another 15+ years. I do condition it once-twice a year just to care for it.

Ashland Leather Bugs Moran. Made in Chicago. Horween leather. Great company.

Relatively inexpensive: Saddleback leather

Hella expensive: Ashland

Both should be BIFL, both full grain leather. Both have a variety of size options. Ashland's leather is technically nicer, but it's hard to justify the price difference in BIFL terms. I believe Ashland is made in the USA and Saddleback in Mexico. I've had both, recently upgraded to an Ashland after my Saddleback wallet was stolen. As I said, the Ashland is hella nice, but hella expensive.

Oh, and don't forget to treat your leather with a quality cleaner/polish about once a year.

I have one from a company called Buffway that's pretty good, but it's my second. The first one lasted 6-7 years.

Nice, I actually have a Buffway now and it’s my second one as well. The first one got wet a few times in the rain and came apart. It’s nice but I’m looking for something smaller and comfortable

I feel like I am constantly trying to get rid of cards. License, medical, hsa, company credit card, 2 of my own. Some places like Costco I think you must have a card and I go there like 4 tines a year so I just have my wife bring hers. Oh TMobike gave me free AAA but now I gotta carry the card.

Costco and AAA membership cards can be stored in your phone on iOS at least.

Check out Rose Anvil. Small independent business. They've actually got a sale on right now too, if you check out their most recent YouTube video there is a discount code. They're moving out a few older designs for some newer ones. I've never purchased their stuff myself, but they know what they are doing and use quality leather. All made in USA

Is there a local craftsman in your area? I found my small leather wallet at an art fair. Almost an exact replica of the polyester one I wanted to replace and I was happy to support a local artist

Craft and lore is on my wishlist. Full grain saddle leather, they have horween available and it looks just so so nice. They have card wallets that can comfortably carry 10 cards with space for bills as well, but also models that carry up to 12. These things are seriously heirloom items especially with how they patina

Forgot to add that they have a lifetime warranty on their stitching and they easily fit in the front pocket

I'm also looking for a wallet. My current wallet is a jcrew factory leather bifold (DO NOT BUY THIS) the card slots are embarrassingly tight even after a year and it slips out of your pocket wayy too easily (i assume because the outside is super slick) - what wallet do you guys recommend that won't fall out of your pocket?

Check out Open Seas Leather, guy is in the navy and started out making them in his garage. I’ve had one for a few years and it has worn in beautifully. Feels like I will never have to buy another wallet but I want to buy more from him!
