I have no experience with Nudie and very little with denim, but are their jeans made of raw denim? If so, doesn't raw denim "bleed" indigo dye really easily when you first get them?

Yes definitely, and I'm sure this is bleed from other jeans they were stacked with. These just arrived today and are unworn. My question is sincere curiosity about whether it's picky to want these to be in more pristine condition upon arrival?

Is it picky? Maybe a tad. But maybe that dye will also permanently stain that tag. So I don't think it's unreasonable to return it. Is there a store near you where you can exchange it in person? That's what I would do if given the option.

I have multiple pairs of Nudies and ALL of the tags are like this.

You've impeccably typed out my thoughts, and my same body type actually. You're talking some sense into me. These jeans do fuckin rule. The discolored tag got my panties in a bunch. They're still a bit twisted up, but not as much. :)

If this post didn't dissuade you, give the Breezy Britt a try. They're a curvy fit without being *called* a curvy fit. No back waist gap at all!! Only downside is that return shipping is $20. I got lucky and managed to try them when I was in NYC last week. They didn't have my hem length, so I ordered online when I got home. They're on sale for $140 right now!

I think it should wear off when you start wearing the jeans with a belt, or if you wash them. You could ask if they would replace the patch as a free repair sometime in the future, or remove the patch entirely

I'm a huge raw denim fanatic. Oni, brave star, iron heart, and tanuki. If you're not satisfied then send them back. However, in my experience; sometimes my denim bleeds onto the patches. Sometimes it goes away and sometimes it does. With raw denim it's usually all about the patina and fades. Even with the patch too! Often I've found that no two pair of the same model are exactly alike except for fit. You could send then back totally! Also, you could wear them like crazy, watch as they fade and shape to you more and begin to have an appearance that reflects your lifestyle and in another year or year and a half, buy another pair. All of my jeans are raw denim and Japanese other than my brave star and iron heart (U.S. raw denim and Japanese raw denim constructed in the UK) now I might get a new pair after two years but at first I bought a pair about every year to year and a half just because I enjoy the fading process and it would take about a year to reach my opinion of max fade potential.

For me, I wouldn’t be bothered by it as 9 times out of 10, it would be covered by my shirt. Now if you tuck shirts in, then yeah I would try to get a clean pair

This looks like they aged the denim with the patch sewn on, some brands do some brands sew it on after, this is perfectly normal.

Kinda picky? Sure, but they're your jeans and it's your money - return them if you think it'll bother you. Depending on how you wear them that dye will likely wear off within a year or 2.

I do think it's a bit picky. If you have some leather conditioner/cleaner, I wonder if giving the tag a thorough rub down would both ease some of the wrinkles and clear the dye stain?

Is it worth the hassle? Is it the nature of the product? Is it worth the excess shipping and carbon foot print? Totally up to you but seems like it’s not worth it to return.

Is it actually dirt ? or is the label just darker than you were expecting ? What happens if you rub a bit of the label with a cloth ?

HorseGirl666 t1_j2ybci7 wrote

Good question! I don't think it's dirt, but it's discolored. I'm positive that it's not intentionally manufactured this way, and it doesn't come off when wiped.

Probably denim bleed. Rub off from another pair they were stacked with. If you bought them to show off the brand it might be worth a call. If you bought them for fit and look I'd be inclined to ignore it since it was a sale.

Ah, I'm sure you're right. I do almost exclusively tuck my shirts into my pants, so the tag is always showcased and feels like more of a bummer than I'd usually be fussy about. The sale price is absolutely what's making me feel like an a-hole about complaining. I appreciate the advice. I think I'll shoot em an email, but let it go if they can't help.

I'd send them back. That's not as expected.

At that price if you are less than satisfied contact customer service. What’s the worst that could happen.

I'm sorry this upset you. This is kind of a mean comment to someone you don't know, but I hope it made you feel better to express it. If we met on the street, maybe you'd be surprised to find out that we might get along and could even be friends.

I suppose my only counterargument is that our ancestors didn't have to drop such massive coin to get lasting denim! :,( If these were $4 like Levi's in 1950 ($58 today) I wouldn't be saying shit, I swear.
