Reply to comment by pjm3 in I’ve had this Dakine backpack for ~17 years and have taken it on all my trips. The zippers on this thing still work like they are new. All my other backpacks have had their zippers break off so this is my old trusty pack. by cumaboardladies

YKK is used by sooo many companies, though. They’re not all high quality.

I just had a YKK zipper fail on my Sierra Designs bike jacket. AFTER 24 years! And I'm totally good with that. The waterproofing on the inside of the jacket wore out before the zipper.

Valid point. It's not a guarantee of good quality, but not using YKK is typically not a good indication of a quality product. Also, typically, most products fail at the zips and it's not a simple/cheap fix to replace them.
