I am looking to get a work backpack for my husband as a gift. It needs to be all black (he’s in the military) hold a laptop, general office supplies, occasional set of clothes, and hydroflask. I looked into Osprey because of their warranty, but open to other brands/models!

I think the Radial was designed for people that ride bikes to work etc. The Nebula is well reviewed on REI. I have had Osprey packs for years they have been really good.

Thank you! I was leading towards the Nebula anyway 😬 I’ve been seeing Osprey on this subreddit for years now so it came to mind right away!

I've purchased multiple osprey bags and had to use their warranty twice. It was amazingly easy each time.

Check out Everki. Excellent quality backpacks. Mine is going on 10 years and looks brand new.

Thank you! Was leaning towards Osprey Nebula, but I will check our Everki just in case 😬

Check out the Gossamer Gear - Vagabond Jet! Love mine and use it daily for work/play.

Definitely go with Osprey for their warranty!!! I'm a broken record on this sub about them.

I've got the nebula. Simply fantastic. It has a ton of buckles, straps, side pockets and is by far the most capable, versatile, and well-made pack I've owned.

I have the Osprey Nebula but with the logo on the back he would have to sew on an American Flag to cover it due to military regulations on bags.

I recommend Goruck GR2. It meets every requirements you listed and is built like a tank and it looks nice. I use it for work, trips less than three days, and grocery shopping. This is my one backpack for everything and I don’t plan to buy another backpack for the next ten years.

Con: expensive

I went with Osprey Nebula, but I’ve actually seen this recommended a few times on this subreddit but haven’t looked into it until your comment. It looks like a perfect fit! I might have to reconsider once the Nebula comes in. 🤔

Have to be honest tho GR2 is overkill for most situations. Nebula is probably more than enough. It’s not worth it for most people to spend $400 on a backpack, but I tend to buy more backpacks until I have my ultimate backpack so it makes sense for me to drop that kind of money. So far my craze has stopped since I bought my GR2 in June 2021.

Ahhh that makes sense. My husband isn’t too particular, so you’re probably right. Thank you for being honest!

Vertx makes some really great bags. Features that your husband might really appreciate.

I've had the Nebula for years and use it just as you described. Overnight bag, laptop, work stuff. Its been great and have not had to repair anything on it. Cant go wrong.

Hi everyone! I really appreciate everyone’s inputs. I didn’t think I would get so many 🥹 with that being said, I did go with Osprey’s Nebula primarily due to the warranty everyone is raving about. But I do have some of your other recs in mind in case we don’t end up loving the nebula. Thanks again!
