Carhartt makes a laptop sized backpack. I bought a much larger one for camping/bug out after reading recommendations on this sub.

The size may be dictated by the size of your husband's laptop. The bigger his laptop, the larger a backpack needed to carry it.

I'm a fan of Tom Bihn, and they have several options (the Synik 22 and Synapse 19 or 25) that are smaller backpacks. They can accommodate laptops up to certain sizes. I like a smaller backpack and use a Synik 22 which holds my 14" laptop and has great organization for carrying other things. Their quality is top-notch.

Tom Bihn has a loyal following (I've got multiple travel bags from them), but there are other options from other good manufacturers. You many want to also ask in the sub r/onebag for other suggestions as this topic is covered a lot there.

5.11, Vanquest, LA Police gear, plus the others mentioned. Style depends on how else it may be used and big it needs to be. I've seen good sling bags that would work for a smaller notebook-style computer, too.

You're welcome. Vanquest and 5.11 both make lines that don't look tactical (ie the MOLLE webbing). But if he also uses a small set of tools (maybe to gain access to a server or unscrew a case), a smaller sling with a MOLLE tool pouch might do well also. As a size reference, I have a 5.11 Moab 6 sling and an I-pad Air 2 in a full case fits perfectly in the larger pocket with room for additional items.

Very nice if your husband works in a more formal environment. Only downside is they are expensive.

I recommend you check out the backpacks from Aer. I purchased one of their slings recently (City Sling 2). It’s awesome and built like a tank. I remember an online reviewer describing it as “overbuilt”.

Their backpacks look cool too (particularly the Fit Pack 3) and I expect they’re similarly overbuilt. So check em out!

GoRuck Echo. It has a dedicated "bombproof" laptop compartment, some organization, and is just big enough to be functional for a daily bag.

I use a GR1 daily, but the Echo is great for times not as much stuff needs to come with.

I have so many backpacks, I should just send you one. Reusing is better than buying

Thanks! I'm looking at the AMP10 (don't think hed like a sling) is the clamshell opening annoying? I ask because I have one like this as a diaper bag but trying to wonder from a guys perspective. 🤣

I have 2 larger backpacks that open fully with that design, and it doesn't bother me at all. It makes things nice and open so I can see everything.
