I've put hundreds of hours into my controllers and never had any break. I wouldn't expect the elite controllers to have better quality.

The triggers on the elite controllers are prone to breakage. I had my elite2 for about 6 months before the left trigger died. I purchased and regular ass Xbox controller and it's working flawlessly after 18 months.

I think you meant worse but I have gone through like 3 of the elite controllers back in my day and it’s a pretty common experience.

Curious, usually they all get Stickdrift after some time, due to the design of the potentiometers. Hall effect sensors would be a better choice. Can't think of any BIFL option, these types of electronics tend to be designed to be "consumed" these days

Ik it really sucks I'm surprised no company made some kind of premium controller that as long as you don't throw it and stuff it doesn't break, it would be a good short term business

thats not normal use thats either abuse or life trying to give you a hint that its time to go outside

This is pretty brain dead comment. I had the same experience as OP from an hour - 2 a day use while I was in school and still very busy. Guessing you haven’t used elite controllers or are over 40 and don’t game at all.

i dont need an elite controller cause mine works just fine lol

brain dead would be you down below saying the elite controllers breaking was a pretty common experience yet some how that didnt stop you from buying another one after the first one broke

and another one after that one broke (:

You completely dodged what he was saying, why are you even commenting you're not helping no one and just talking shit and tried to say "it's time to go outside"

I've never had good luck with 3rd party controllers, and thru 3 gens of xbox I have only 1 controller that had any part that broke, and that was the wireless on my xbox 1 controller - it is now wired thanks to a long usb cable.

When I played console I had the same issue. Unfortunately the console market and the high end gnawing market don’t really overlap a ton. If I still wanted to use a controller I’d probably try a scuff.

Edit: I’d try a different sub op

cone8042 OP t1_j6ckbow wrote

Which sub?

nozelt t1_j6cmmu8 wrote

Not sure maybe a gaming related one. Honestly tho I was in your same position years ago and switched to pc before I figured out a solution. My recommendation is to check out scuff but I haven’t tried it myself.

I have several official xbox controllers going back to the Xbox one x. The old micro USB charger ones the ports are spotty but everything else is working fine.

My USB c ones are pretty solid still. I've only had one controller fail after a few years. (Older micro usb one) But I got a little rough with it. So it's my fault.

I’ve had really good luck with the 8bitdo ultimate. I don’t think any controller is true Bifl tho

Well yeah but in technology standards lol

I’d recommend the PowerA Fusion Pro. I had the same problem as you and these controllers last me much longer than my scuf, 2 elites, and a few others. I did end up finally replacing it after about 2 years. They have a newer model out now.

cone8042 OP t1_j6fo83v wrote

Is the newer model durable as well?

1

upfaii t1_j6ft5iv wrote

Yes, I would say it has even better build quality than it’s predecessor. Really nice controller with the pro paddles on the back that you can map to any buttons you want.

cone8042 OP t1_j6gymss wrote

Dang that's crazy what's the price?

1

upfaii t1_j6h0icp wrote

$90 for the newer model. Walmart actually has it on sale for $85 right now.

I been using the same controller for about 4 years.

There's nothing I can recommend ATM. They'll all get drift. I would wait for a company to come out with hall effect drop in replacement sticks and repair what you have with those

cone8042 OP t1_j6fnd9r wrote

Thank you!

1

mad_dog_94 t1_j6fnqc6 wrote

No problem. I'm waiting on this as well for my elite series 2 because $180 is a lot for a controller and I'll be damned if I get rid of it for any reason that isn't replaced fully by mouse and keyboard

1

cone8042 OP t1_j6foh7q wrote

Yeah tbh it would be a good short term business model to make bifl technology I heard it's possible but companies well yk

mad_dog_94 t1_j6fotoo wrote

Yeah stuff like remotes, controllers, and stuff people don't tend to upgrade. I took that approach with my keyboard

it's gotta be you brother, the only thing that has ever given me issues are Batteries and sticks. I have never had a face, shoulder, or d-pad failure.
