Not expecting the pillow to last a lifetime haha but you get the idea. I’m a side sleeper, I sleep on my stomach sometimes or don’t even use a pillow (very rarely). Tried IKEA and many from Costco (memory foam), nothing is really comfortable, my neck hurts. Why is it so tough to find a good pillow?

Hard agree. I have RA and traditionally have had a difficult time being comfortable lying down. Slept on them exclusively for two years now and the improvement in my neck pain is almost unbelievable. I now take one whenever I travel.

The cut-out in the middle keeps my head fairly neutral throughout the night. I tend to curl a flat pillow around my arm and into my neck causing some major lateral flexion and rotation. This pillow doesn’t allow that. My regular contour was decent, but I still would wake up with some pain. This was less expensive than that pillow and helps more. A pillow is a very subjective item. But for $35 and able to return it if I didn’t like it, sign me up!

I looked at the link online where a) no one in the photos was using one, and b) it doesn't look like one would even go over it with that design.
It’s an advertisement for a pillow. You want to show the pillow! And a pillow case is fabric over a pillow. It fits the shape. It’s not a rigid structure. Mattress ads have people sleeping without sheets all the time!

I replaced mine with the Casper ones on Amazon. They've served well. Also if your neck is hurting be sure to get a low fill/thin pillow.
I second the Casper. I have the “essential standard” with a firm-ish core and “plush” outer layer. I’ve been through dozens of pillows, this is by far the greatest pillow invention on the planet. Somehow it stays supportive in whatever way you need it, yet cradles your head and neck in a soft pillowy kiss. I have nerve damage in my neck that makes my arm numb if I sleep on my side, but not with my BFF Casper. It is pillow perfection.
Thin pillows made a big difference for me. I use a latex foam one that's like 2" and a buckwheat neck pillow sometimes
I also want to try to make an infinity pillow, they look insanely comfortable but the plastic bead padding would be too thick, I'd go with some sweatshirt material and a little batting
The low profile ones are only 1.25” thick, what’s the logic behind it to avoid neck pain? Trying to understand. Thanks
Doesn't bend the neck as much. Mine are down filled so when I switch to the side I can squish it up to make it thicker.
I use a buckwheat pillow by Hullo. I like it cause it offers good air circulation and adjustability, it’s just kind of heavy for a pillow.
Best part is you can add, remove or replace the buckwheat hulls as needed; extending the life of the pillow.

Buckwheat pillow gang here. Had mine a little over a year now and it's changed my life. Side sleeper. It's insane how much better my sleep has been since I got it.
I think mine is by Lofe but not 100% sure there.

Definitely not for everyone, but if you can get over it being diffeent from a normal pillow, it makes for great sleep.
Buckwheat hulls pillow user for over 20 years. Very adjustable so you can make it fit right where you need in that sweet spot on your neck. All other pillows make me feel like I’m fighting to keep my head down.

I have found that buckwheat or millet pillows are the most comfortable. I used a buckwheat hull pillow for nine years when I lived in Japan. After moving back to the U.S. I tried every pillow I could find in a store. None of them were very comfortable or lasted very long.
I found a millet hull pillow online and have been using it for about three-four years now. My wife stole my first one so I had to buy a second one. I love the fact that I can remove the millet and wash the fabric part of the pillow just like a pillow case.
Try a 100% natural latex pillow, many brands sell them. Medium firmness will last longer than soft but ultimately a comfort decision.
Wool pillows, with a zip. You can refill them if you need to and can adjust the stuffing levels. www.baavet.co.uk
For down pillows I recommend Pacific Coast Feather company. Buy pillows a level firmer than you think you want.
I am looking for pillows that are a little firm, that’s how I like it but I am not a big fan of ‘memory foam’ spongy thickness. It feels like I’m falling into a limbo and totally not supportive. Going to check the pacific coast thx

I have tried a bunch of pillows, and the sleep innovations memory foam contour pillow (queen) is the one I've been using for... Wow, since 2013 so 9 or 10 years now. Make sure you use the fatter side for under your neck or you get neck pain. Saw some similar reviews on amazon. Not sure I'll use a different pillow. It's the only one that relieves my neck pain.
My husband had temperpedic when we met - so at least a decade ago and he was obsessed, I didn’t understand it. Then this Christmas we went into one of their stores when they were having a sale and we found my perfect pillow.
I second tempur-pedic. They’re a bit pricey but 100% worth it. Had one for about 4 years and it still feels brand new.

Almost all pillows are either memory foam or polyester. Both suck. We love our Frankenmuth Woolen Mill pillows, their products are amazing
I’ve owned a good quality down pillow for over a decade and it’s still in great shape. I fluff it up every few days and always keep a zippered cover on it. It’s getting towards needing some extra down added since it does lose some ability to maintain full loft after years of use but that’s it to keep it going. It was an investment though at about $250 (I bought it from a place that manufactures domestically using down from geese that were raised for food).
I find polyester and foam pillows far too hot. IMHO down pillows or wool pillows are the way to go. I’ve been quite happy with Pacific Coast Down
I love my bamboo Costco pillows. And the furry body pillows. Not BIFL but the bamboo ones (memory clusters) are still good after 7 years. The body pillows…well one every 3 years is more than good in my book.

As a stomach sleeper I accidentally stumbled on the solution for me. My wife and I bought a king sized bed with individually adjustable mattresses. The mattresses are essentially two twin sized mattresses with the bed frames bound together at the head and foot.
I found if I adjust the binding strap at the head end of the mattresses to leave about a 2”-3” gap between the mattresses, I can lay comfortably face down with my face between the mattresses. It’s essentially like the hole in a massage table for your face. I use a thin, hard pillow across the gap to support my forehead which offloads the pressure on my cheeks. The gap is wide enough that plenty of air circulates.
Before discovering this arrange, I used to spin in bed like a rotisserie chicken. Now I’m comfortable all night and wake up with zero aches and pains. When we first bought the mattresses I hated that discontinuity between the mattresses but now I love it.

I don't really care who the my pillow dude is I like his pillows I sleep comfortably at night.
I really love the Sealy Posturepedic pillows. The one with the thick center section between both side. As a side sleeper it works great. Added bonus is it stays very cool so I don't find myself flipping it as often.
Solid (NOT the shredded) latex pillow of any brand. My partner had one from the time she was a child to 30 years later. She convinced me to try them out and now I'm never going back. If you're someone who needs a lot of support (like me), having a firm pillow to put under the latex one is a good idea, but it should be perfect for a side or stomach sleeper.
They generally run ~50$(us) for standard-size and can get over 100 for a king-size, but it's definitely worth it in my opinion.
