I have a brand new Speed Queen TR7 and the issue is we are having stains caused by detergent. Never had this issue in the past with other washing machines. The TR7 does not have a spot for the detergent. I have tried putting detergent in first and tried putting detergent in after the clothes. Weird that the TR7 doesn't have a slot for detergent. How do you guys run the dishwasher? Detergent first or after clothes?
Try dissolving the detergent in a large glass of warm water first before pouring it into the machine.
I have a TR7. I put the detergent in first. I haven’t had a issue with the clothes staining and I don’t dilute it either. What brand detergent are you using and how much?
I put in the recommended amount per the cap on the detergent. The brand is "Xtra"
I would try using less, even on a large load I only fill the cap to the 3rd line out of 5. If that doesn’t work try switching detergents, I’ve used All and tide ultra with excellent results
As attractive as the price is on Xtra. It’s absolutely garbage detergent. Try your same method with Tide etc and I would bet money your problem goes away.
I like powdered detergent with these type of washers, more economical and they don't need all the dyes like liquid detergent has. I put it in the bottom so it dissolves as the washer fills. Only half a scoop for a large load unless the clothes are heavily soiled.
Did you read your owners manual?, detergent in the bottom of the washer, fabric softener on top of agitator, bleach into the slot on front left.

As we found on our Speed Queen, don't over use the detergent, and use an HE detergent at the amount recommended. don't overload, about 16 lbs roughly 1/2 load.
Yep. Did all of that boss. We have had several loads that the detergent has left clothes stained.
Change your detergent, as asked before what brand are you using. Never had a staining problem with ours going on 10 years.
XTRA is the detergent. I posted the brand earlier when asked about brand. TY
I'd try a different brand, Tide, Gain, etc, just as an experiment. As with everything even detergents can have a bad batch.
Is the wash water warm enough to properly activate detergent? Id put the detergent in first otherwise staining for me.
When you hooked it up, did you turn the hot water back on? Cold water causes detergent staining.
The other cause is hard water, which can be mitigated by adding a bit of salt or backing soda to your wash.
Can you do an extra rinse or open the door (if it’s top loading) and letting them soak before washing?
Not able to run the washer without the lid being closed.
They didn't say run with the lid open. On my tr5 I can start a load, let it fill and cancel the wash cycle this lets the clothes soak a bit, before you resume the cycle. Not sure on a tr7 as its digital
I have a 9 year old (I think) Speed Queen and I have used a variety of detergents from Tide Simple to Gain (currently using All Free Mega pods) and it hasn’t been an issue. When I use powder I always dump the powder in the bottom. With liquid I have always just put on the clothes. Worth pods I turn the water on out the pod in and then add the clothes. I usually don’t extra rinse.

I have never heard of detergent staining clothes in my life. I wash a lot of clothes. What color are the stains and what are two articles of clothing stained the worst? Very curious!
Any light colored clothes and it leaves a grayish color stain.

That’s because speed queen uses designs from 30 years ago when you had to basically pre- dissolve your detergent.
They are kind of like Toyotas. Reliable by virtue of using old technology for a million years without any changes, after the rest of the industry has moved on. That’s why the 2023 4Runner has a 5 speed transmission and gets 18mpg and the tr7 can’t handle regular detergent lol.

What type of detergent are you using? Try liquid detergent, pour it in the empty wash tub (do NOT use too much — very common to use too much detergent), and then start the water fill. After the tub is approx 1/4 full of water and dissolved the detergent, then add the clothes.
