My father had a can crusher years and years ago that was manual in use. The problem is it didn’t really crush them for flatten them enough to be used in a cd type of shredding situation. I’m not sure how to get them that thin.

You're going to spend more money in shredders than you make in aluminum. Just buy the aluminum. Most paper shredders won't shred paper for very long, much less aluminum cans.

Most of them will shred cds, so probably soda cans. It'll take a toll on the shredder. Do you think burning the paint on the cans is a good idea?

Replace the motor with a hand crank. Is an old hack, probably videos online on how to do it. It's the motor that is going to die, not the grinder.

You can get electric yard waste shredders that are more powerful (for branches etc) that might work for you

Why shred aluminum that you will melt anyway? I've melted aluminum on a crucible welded up from heavy pipe, the cans melted fine whole.
