A major client just changed their PPE requirements so i have to get new boots that meet the following: composite toe, electrical hazard resistant, puncture resistant, non-slip, defined heel, 6” min shaft. The only ones I’ve found so far are glued construction which is fine for construction workers who get a new pair every year, but I’m in the field only occasionally so I’m not going to wear out the uppers.

Any suggestions for boots that meet the above requirements, are recraftable, and look reasonably attractive?

The Timberland/Wolverine/Avenger tier that I’ve found so far is $150-200. I’d happily spend $350 for full grain leather and Goodyear welts.

White’s and Nicks are going to be the best but unfortunately out of the price range. I see a couple pairs of Danner boots that meet your requirements. No idea if you find them attractive though.

Thanks, I’ll look at Danner and Nicks. I only saw steel toes from White’s.

Frank’s Boots, Nick’s Boots or White’s Boots.

My brother swears by Whites but I only see steel toes, not composite. I’ll check the other two out.

I needed some composite toe boots for my last project. I picked a pair of Thorogood V-Series 8in Crazyhorse style #804-3237 for about $180. They’re waterproof, uninsulated, EH protecting, Goodyear welt boots. They held up to 7 months of multiple miles a day outdoors in every condition. From 95 degree days to a foot and a half of snow. I plan on getting another season or two out of them. I give them a monthly wash, but no other care outside of that. I can’t attest to their BIFL status since I’ve only gone one season with them, but they’ve kept my feet safe and dry under extremely heavy use. Treating them right and continuously paired with infrequent usage, and I could see them lasting a good while.
