MDR-7506 from Sony is in the same range as the M50X price wise and is world-renowned and time-tested for being able to take a beating.

Also, might be worth looking into IEMs instead of headphones.

Sennheiser build quality is okay but not incredible. You can take a peek at HD280s though.

Replaceable cables are a plus, and the screw collar type connector at the headset end is more durable than the ones using 1/8" plugs both ends. This eliminates one type of failure, except you'll be buying another cordset then.

BTW, I love my Sennheiser HD 600, which has replaceable cords with 1/8" cords both ends, but has lasted me many years with only reasonable care. Excellent for music. Sometimes offered via Drop (MassDrop) as HD 6xx for better price.

The GSP670 is a terrific wireless gaming headset with mic and Bluetooth. No cords at all except while recharging. Pretty ok for music too. Comfortable. Earpiece cloth came loose but easy to tuck back in. Battery has great life between charges, and you can continue to use corded connected via USB cable.

Their higher end stuff is better quality than the entry level stuff.

Airpods Pro in your budget? Might be more durable

Beyerdynamic DT 770. Lots of metal where you need it. Super comfy. Replaceable ear pads and head cushion.

Will last for ever.

Depends a lot on what you are listening to. I mostly listen to podcasts, so audio quality is not important. So I by cheap headphones that I know will break, because the treatment I give them would break expensive ones too.

I use the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro for over 8 years now. They are semi-open headphones, but with the same building quality as the DT-770. They are being used multiple hours each day and the only thing I had to replace were the Earpads so far. At some point in the past I have purchased a Bluetooth receiver, that I just taped to one side of the headset to make a wireless headset out of it. I casually opened the headset a while ago, just to see it from the inside and I think I get at least another 8 years out of them. Huge Advantage over the DT770 is the removable cable. It’s just a standard double audio-jack.

Be careful, Most Sennheiser headphones are high impedance, so they wont work straight out of a smartphone, and will require a separate amplifier to power

I use a Shure SRH1540. It's well built, and sounds good. I wear them in bed and I haven't experienced any issues. It came with 2 cables and two sets of pads.

I have had my Sennheisers for over a decade now and all that needed to be replaced were the cables and ear cushions. They're nice but since phones went the way of Bluetooth I switched to Ultimate Ears FITs and while the case has gotten banged up they've still served me well since I got them.

I would probably also recommend IEMs at this point, but for earbuds with a more custom fit I like to recommend UE as a brand because they have an app that lets you tune the sound quality, and pretty much all their headphones have a custom fit. I chose the FITs because you can buy light activated gel tips and replace them if your ears change for whatever reason (swelling, injuries), they sent me the smallest size free of charge when I commented that their standard size didn't fit my ears (too big) long term. Because they mold to your ear they're a great fit. UE also just has a good balance between sound, fit, customer service.

I think their drops model is the new kid on the block, it comes with an impressions kit that you send back and they make it for you. But otherwise UE 5 CSX is their consumer level IEM that comes with Bluetooth and wires that you can swap out depending on your use case. I haven't really gone that route because I'm happy with my FITs and you have to go to an audio engineer to get fitted, I think.

Hmm, they're great on the go but I can't really wear them for hours on a plane or anything. I have a pair of ATH that are honestly more comfy for at home use but their ear cushions break down over time even if I don't use them often. I would probably recommend those TBH, even if they're not durable. They don't need to be durable if you're only using them at a stationary PC, plus the replacements are cheap.

Sennheiser has been bought out by sonova, If you can try to get a couple older pairs and you’ll get a lifetime product. Hd560-600 range is amazing headphone, the old marble counter 600 has last me about 16 years and countint, no defects so far!

If you want something long term and easily repairable look into meze 99s, they are fully servicable with a long gurantee! Amazing sound on the 99s and if you want to go budget-er the 99 neo’s are good as well
