If you're in North America, a company called NaceCare imports them here. You can actually get them on Amazon!

Henry is just under $350 now and his simpler but still just as fun sibling, James is just under $300. Due to importing them from the UK and other markups, they aren't as amazing of a deal as they are over there. For example, Hetty, the pink version of Henry is on sale for £129.99, which is the equivalent of $156 roughly at this point in time. They're all excellent cleaners though, and will last a wildly long time.

Downsides - really bad design, too top heavy so falls over all the time, stupid smug face will catch on every. single. corner. Then it'll fall over again when you pull it. Metal tube isn't collapsible so useless for cleaning under beds near walls etc. Plastic nozzle prone to cracking. Not actually that powerful so will be even less so at 110v

I have a new one and I love it! I did a ton of research after learning about Henry on r/vacuums (where it is highly rated & recommended). Very pleased with my purchase!

Not sure what you mean by collapsible but mine can go long/short by pressing a button on the metal pole, telescoping it.

Agree with the top heavy but it's not a huge issue, if it's empty it's light enough to carry around, if it's full, it won't fall over.

As for suction, this thing blows away any Dyson I've ever had (240V UK).

I know you'll know this but for anyone else who doesn't: It's good to give the cotton filter thing a good wash every so often, the air struggled to get through when it's blocked and hinders suction.

You just correctly summarized all the things I don’t like about my Henry. But it’s still a very durable and powerful vacuum-cleaner.

Do you need to buy bags for Henry?

5

sfcol t1_j8dtmmu wrote

Yeah, but you can get reusable bags

alias_neo t1_j8e6f12 wrote

I don't use bags, it has a big material filter in that can be washed, I just empty it in the bin and wash the filter.

Can't be dealing with emptying reusable bags and not wasting single-use ones.

I got a Henry Wet and Dry as a gift from MIL when we moved into our new place. I used it on some "light" construction around the house and it looked a total mess, took it outside and washed everything except the black part with the hose and it looks and works good as new.

The smaller ones like OP seems to be priced around £180 these days in most of the local places I've looked (and Costco), but the W&D is the same size as the XL Plus can be had for the same price, and it comes with an insert for vacuuming liquids as well as the usual filter insert.

I don't use bags, I just empty it in the bin and wash the filter with the hose.

Use it almost daily to vacuum cold ash out of the log stove as well as the usual house work.

Can I just order from the official website? Do they ship overseas?

J3ttf t1_j8dfs5y wrote

No, if you’re in the States you will need to order from a 3rd party. For a lower price, ask your local vacuum shop to order one for you.

Amazon has the official bags for sale in the US. That’s where I bought mine.

rocketwilco t1_j8e8gyz wrote

When you say imported to the US? Do they handle plug/voltage differences?

Penny_No_Boat t1_j8lxd1p wrote

Yes, if you buy from Amazon or Wayfair they have US plugs
