These simple 1 button ones last forever! My mom had 3 classic National brands, and none of them broke in my lifetime (I’m 53), mom has passed on, and now my sister and niece own them! I’ve had other ones that I eventually gave away to my kids or thrift stores because I’ve cut back on rice, or I use my Ninja Foodi pressure cooker to meal prep brown rice nowadays.

Right now I’m living in Bangkok, and just bought a similar type as picture for only $10usd! 😁

My partner found a zojirushi at a thrift store nearly brand new. It’s crazy how just a one-switch-interfaces make such an inviting look. And perhaps most importantly: function exactly how you’d expect them to!

After 20 years ours broke. Now we shuffle between brands trying to find the spark again.

Same. They all have like 8,000 buttons and settings now and break easily, it’s so frustrating.

My in-laws (Filipino) have had that exact same one since they moved to Canada in the early 90s. It’s been through hell and back on so many family road trips and it’s still kicking.

I have one. The lid stopped working as it won't close completely. Not BIFL sadly.

It looks like a cook with the rice spoon.

Have the same one! Use it weekly. No longer have the spoon.

I’ve always just assumed that this was the only rice cooker ever made.
